has anyone bought anything from that showcars bodyparts place with all the fiberglass parts for 1st gen civics? i'm looking to get something to flair out my front end a little. they show a spoiler that looks like what i want, but i'm kind of confused as to what the difference is between that and an airdam. i'm looking for something relatively discreet without alot of holes in it that i can fair in and paint body color. any advice would be appreciated.

I just bought a set of fender flares from showcars. They're a really helpful bunch of folks, but turn-around time is extremely slow. IF you get them on the phone, be very specific and get everything really clear with them before you go sending any money. To be entirely honest, I found their business practices to be too relaxed for my tastes, and I was very dissapointed in the responses I recieved (or didn't recieve) once I'd mailed them the check. They did send me an extra set of flares, free of charge, but it was because they made a mistake with my order and NOT because they were trying to apologise. By the time my parts arrived, I'd almost given up hope, but then I'm an over-caffeinated Californian and my expectations were really high. In other words: buyer beware.

The flares themselves are a "universal" style, so I'll have to do some playing with them to make them work, but the quality is good and it shouldn't be too much trouble to make them fit. If you don't mind waiting 2-3 months for your part, and the idea of having to fiddle with/drill/cut/sand the part once it arrives doesn't sound bad to you, then I say go for it! They're the last place I know of to get this stuff, so putting up with headaches and problems is just part of doing business. In fact, I might just wind up ordering an air dam from them in the future. Sorry for the long post- but I thought everybody would want to know.

thanks for the reply. i probably won't bother with them from what you say. if you think an over caffeinated californian is bad try just about any new englander- i can barely stand it here! i guess i'll just heat form some lexan myself.

I didn't mean to totally discourage you, angus! You might have better luck than I did. Besides, do you really LIKE heating and forming lexan?

actually yes, i've got a job right now to heat form corian for some insane rich person's round window jamb. i like working with plastic- check out the trike in the non-committal lowering thread. i actually heard back from show cars, he sent me the wrong info though; the price list that was already posted on this site for non cvcc cars after i asked him for prices on two specific items by number for cvcc's. the price for the spoiler is only $59 u.s. though so i might still go with it. i don't need the agg.

I forgot about the trike. Maybe you should start selling body parts! You can't be any worse at customer service than showcars.
