My '75 Civic 1200's manual says that it's better to use UNLEADED fuel, so when it's running again, I don't plan to bother with a lead substitute.

My '74 civic Owners Handbook states in the specification - "Recommended Fuel - Low leaded gasoline with 91 octane number or higher, or regular grade"

I have been using leaded since '74 however as discussed on this board recently many are using un-leaded and premium. I rang Shell yesterday and they confirmed as Civic have hardened valve seats, that un-leaded is suitable for my '74.
