i have an '82 hatchback and i want to put a '94 integra B16A motor and tranny in it. i want o know how possible it is and how fast it might be. i got the engine for $150.00 and the tranny for $90.00. i also got all the computers and wiring harnesses to make it work so it is just a matter of time and know how to get it to fit and bolt in. can anyone help?

David, what engine did you buy?? If it's from a '94 Integra it's either a b18b or b18c. The b16a is a Civic engine. And $150? Are you serious? I'd buy ten at that price! Go take a look at the engine if you can and check the model number stamped into the block. Are you speaking of a Japanese import b16a1? The market price for that set-up (engine and trans) is about $1000 right now.
By the way, I live on the other side of the state in Spokane. Email me if you want. Just don't expect any brilliant advice...

Hey Tim, the B16A was found in integra in japan from 89-93. It was also released in the SiR and SiR11 in 89, and it continued in the civic to the present day. It has been around for a while that motor (over 12 years!). Did you know that the 93+ integra in Japan was offered with a twin carb ZC1600? Now that is an easy swap in but only 105 hp.

Hehe, I didn't think anyone would catch me, but I guess I can't sneek anything past you guys. I just wanted to point out that the only VTEC Integra engine in '94 was the b18c. I'm quite familiar with the B series engines and hope to someday put a b16 (or bigger) into my '88 CRX. I've heard of the carbed ZC, but I'm not sure if anyone imports them here to the states. Carbs wouldn't be legal on any car that the ZC would bolt into (as far as I'm awair).

my mistake. i forgot to mention that it is a jap import and it was not the stock motor that came in that car as we all know but the kid that had the car had the B18B and blew it and went with a B16A. dont ask me why but i got the whole package for $240.00 i knew the value of it so i couldnt resist but then i thought maybe i could fit it in my 82 hatchback. it is the v-tec from a 93 integra. they also came in the delsols. someone had the head ported and polished and they also have cam upgrades. it has adjustable cam gears as well. i have a dc sports header that will go on it and an accel throttle body but i want to know if i can fit it in my car?
thanks for being so quik to respond.

Tim, i know of someone who can get get you a carbed zc1600 if you are interested. his name is bill peterson and he is a family friend. he owns a shop called "Foreign Engine And Repair". he tried to talk me into getting that engine but i wanted the easily found mods for the B16A. my friend has the zc1600 in his 91 civic and it runs a 15.1@93mph(street tires and just an intake, header and 2 1/4" exhaust). if you are interested it will probably cost about $350.00-$500.00 for engine and tranny depending on the milage and what city in japan he has to go through to get it.

if the B16A will fit in my car what is my engine worth? 32k original miles on it. carburator works good and tranny perfect. stage 3 racing clutch(turned out to be a little too much clutch for my car). it is the 1.5ltr motor.

David..do it!! I've just installed a D16Z6(SOHC VTEC)into a 78 hatchback..the twin cam will fit in the 82 for sure..I also have the ZC in my '79 civic(cvcc)wagon and it's injected..less room than the 82 and it fits with a little mods..
also a shot of the '98 and up civic manifold..
and the only place for the battery was a custom built box in the rear floor.. ..

2low2go, what is your name so i know who to ask for when i call? can you give me any advice on how to do the swap. i have a gas and electric welding set at home and quite a bit of experience. will i be able to fab the motor mounts or will i need to spend 500.00 bucks on them? can you tell me if i will clear the hood without resting the engine on the crossmember. also can i fit a turbo in it? yours looks very well done. how fast is your car in the 1/4 mile? what are your engine specs? my engine is about 160hp. it has a port and polished head, header, accel throttle. msd A6 ignition(not yet bought), and of course an intake with a K&N filter. oh yes, i forgot, i also have adjustable cam gears and torcy cam grinds. what would i be running in the 1/4 mile? will i have to get custom stuts, hubs and axles? is my car going to out of service for months or can i get this done in a few weeks?
how can i get a picture of my car on this site?
thanks for answering.

Well where do i begin...first of all my name is Justin March..you can reach me at(604)880-1290...The motor mounts we used are the original units from the donor car(89 INTEGRA)the brackets are custom built(look at the SOHC VTEC thread)for a better idea.If you have the means to weld go for it.You should clear the hood, The turbo should fit also(thats the next step for my wagon)My motor is a Jap. spec 1.6litre ZC. factory rating is a 130hp, i've added the air-intake and filter, 2 1/4" exhaust dynomax ultraflow muffler, unorthodox racing underdrive pulley, Gude(Bullfrog) cams and adjustable cam gears,OBX throttle body,The exhaust manifold currently on the car is from a '98 civic hatchback(due to crossmember clearance)but i'm thinking about with a turbo kit.I haven't put it on the dyno yet, but i'm estimating around 155 to 160 hp.I will be running it at the track on the track in june. The axles in my wagon are custom built(i used the integra tranny with the intermediate shaft)so my axles are equal length...they are the integra units just shorthend and re-splined to accept the 81 civic outboards(i did the 4x100 conversion)I have not tried a newer conversion so I'm not sure of the outcome(try this page for a little more help) http://hybrid.honda-perf.org
As far the 1/4 is concerned..i'm not sure but it will scream(the only car i've lost to a turbocharged integra type R)and only by a car length...gotta love power to weight....my car took me a total of about 3months on and off....next question...If it's a factory carbed(ex..'86 accord) car and there is a newer model with the same engine spec and it's injected('89 accord) it's easy..the gauges will work(in mine i have the stock unit's)and to post pics just type..
/image{your image}..but use \ in place of /.

so i can use the stock axles from the integra tranny and just shorten them? cool! will my dc sports header clear the crossmember? if you lost to a supercharged type R by only a car length, you are probably running mid to high 13s. i have a buddy that has a supercharged type R and he runs a 13.6, he also is a medioker driver. i think i may hit low 13s if i can get this thing to work. my number is 425-672-1379. just ask for david. thanks for the help.

can you show me anymore pictures of your cars? what is my original engine and transmission worth(1500cc/32k)? is there a step by step procedure that you can give me to connect all the wiring and computers? I got a line on B18B and tranny for $240.00. should I buy it? would that be better? can you e-mail me how to convert the clutch to a hydraulic vs. cable?
thanks a million.

justin, can you tell me about any suspension mods for the front end of my car? i need to find something very stiff but tight(unlike my blown out shocks)and i also want to keep my car about 4 inches from stock.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
i'd prefer to get a smaller diameter spring and something that is adjustable so i can slam it at the car shows every friday. right now my crossmember is about 3/4" from the ground. my car has lost about 1/2 the turning capability and if i raise it about 3/4" my tires are still tucked but then i have all my turning back. should i massage the fenders or should i raise it a bit?
thanks.
