Hey guys,
I'm in Holland and I can buy a 83 1300 "Sport" with 5speed. It has two carbs according to the owner, he says the enigine is great but the body is rusty. Now I've seen you guys talk about the 1500S, but this is a 1300 for sure. What parts make this car special?? I heard they also came with vented discs... I guess I'll have to wait till saturday! Anyway, I'm gonna use the engine....for my first gen!
I'll let you guys know if there is anything besides the carbs special about it....

Well I have seen the car and I have most of the answers. It's an 83 1.3 Sport; double Keihins, vented discs in front (YES), 5speed tranny, electronic ignition, sun-roof, windshieldwiper in the rear, it has the 4x100 PCD (off course), it has white meters in the dash, it has pretty good seats...
This means everything I have scrambled together and more is basically stock on this car. I didn't see any huge rusty spots, the owner basically "thought" it was very rusty on the bottom, and the immensely faded paint helps you think this way. But hey, I just thought the car was very fixable, so I might have 2 cars from now: first and second gens. I bought it for only 250 guilders (about a hundred new European coins)!!
I just wish I had the brakes and PCD on my first gen. Hey, I'm sorry, but the 78-79 civic is still the nicest one to see. But damn, parts compatibility.....what a good thing....!!

Wow. That's a pretty cool package for a Civic. Wish we had it in the US.

Is the engine a cvcc? Are the heihins the same as the rs carbs or the acclaim carbs?

The carbs are like the RS, actually more the Acclaim, because they have the downdraft intake barrels with horizontal filter, NOT vertical like the RS. It's NOT a CVCC (I have actually never seen a 1200/1300 CVCC here, thought they were all 1500). The suspension seems very stiff compared stock, the owner said it used to be even stiffer. I'm used to almost slamming the car into the ground when I push on it, when I'm buying an old civ anyway..!
I hope the exhaust manifold is a bit bigger too, but I'll have to measure that. I still have to pick up the car because the burocrats were moving on the exact day I was buying (what are the odds), which meant I couldn't put the car in my name and insure it. So I have to cross the land again this coming week. The car is red (they used to be red or black), and I am especially stoked about those front brakes...
Now my problem will be: keep it, or use the parts for the first gen?? Well, I think the type is special enough to make me fix her, unless I run into some huge holes, or somethin...
Maybe I can finally get around to doing all the things for my first gen, as I have a second car now for transport.
Also I can now just park them together and start measuring the exact differences (like the brakes and uprights??)..I want these discs on both my cars.
So what a lucky man I am!! Look out for this 1983 Civic 1.3 Sport, RED/BLACK, I'll try to find out where it was exported to, because hey, if you just put that engine in, you've got a 5speed, double Keihin, 1335cc to begin with....
