my 81 1300 will not run. If the choke is closed it ideals fine. Once you gas it and the choke opens the car cuts off. The car runs fine as long as you keep your foot on the gas and dont stop. I need to know what the solonoids in control box 1 do exactly. I have to have the car running by Friday. Also is there a float, out of the 2, the provides gas just for idealing? When i bought the car the vacuum line going to the throttle opener diaphram was unhooked. When i connect it and push the gas peddle down the engine will rev way high and dosnt stop untill i disconnect the vacuum line. Also does any one maybe have a control box they can get rid off. I have very very limited funds (lost my job) and need to get this fixed with out spending a ton of money on parts. If any one has any info please emil me or post a reply.
thanks and Godspeed.

Check the fuel cutoff solenoid on the side of the Carbie, they have an o-ring that tends to disappear with age...only real question is where does it go...I fear it breaks up into little pieces then gets sucked into the CVCC ports only to cause a fuel flow problem...at worse it may cause the CVCC valves to burn out prematurely. I'm not positive but this may be the heart of most all of the CVCC carbie problems...anyone else have any feedback on this one?

Oh yeah, how does this relate to your problem? Well if it does, it's because you'd be getting fuel to the main circuit(designed to run lean), but not enough fuel to the idle CVCC circuit(designed to run rich) thus the car won't idle, but runs OK at higher RPM...still down on power though and tending to run hotter, because the CVCC circuit is so lean...which also may fry the CVCC valves. I'm assuming you are talking about an 81 CVCC 1300.

AW what color are your plugs? I know i've asked this before but...If they are too clean your running lean, (get it?...clean-lean) and if your all black, wet and nasty, your rich or fouled in another way. You just need to take them out one at a time and record what they look like according to what cyl they came out of! Will it start cold with NO pumping and the 'choke' open on the primary 'throat' of the carb? (wedge it and try to start. If takes along time to start you might be lean, and if it starts right up, runs for a few seconds and then dies, you could be too rich.(but get a flashlight and look down it, can u see fuel dripping? it shouldn't be!) Look at the end of your tail pipe, is it sooty?

Yes it is a CVCC. Well it seems that i was having an way over folw of fuel. The diaphram that is on the fuel cut off solinoid, the one that has a fuel line and a vacum line had a hole in it. Fuel was running all over the place. So that seems ok now. Although it still ideals alittle rough for my likeing. Now there is the question of vacuum lines. there is this one that run from the "Control Valve With Dash Pot Check Valve" to the Throttle opener diaphram. When ever i hook this line up and give it a little gas the throttle opens way up and will not rev back down untill o turn of the engine or unhook the line. Whats the deal with this. The solanoid in the control box is green. I have a little blow by on the #4 cylinder so its kinda black but yea its defenutly rich.

AW, is there a number printed on that line anywhere? Another thing is (I know it sounds too simple) is your timing right? and the firing order 1-3-4-2? Place a timing light on each plug wire to see if there is a good even firing from idle to about 3000rpms. and make sure your distributor is advancing also (while it's running, run a lenth of vacume line to the distributor advance can and suck slightly to see if the rpm's change and also to see if it is holding a vacume by blocking it with your tounge) I know I've said before but, There is a little diaphram cover held on by 3 screws that is only accessable from underneath, If this gets bad, the engine just sucks fuel down that port and will flood out. I really need to get a 'good' digital camera (figure out how to use it) and post some pics. e

thanks errol. Yea firing order is right and timing seems to be fine. We hooked up a timing light on each wire. All seems good there. What is that diaphram called? We replaced a lot of them during the rebuild. I belive the number on the vacuum line is 6 or 7. Cant remember which. Ill check the vacuum line idea on the distributor.

Back in the 'day' when these cars were all over the place, If something would start running 'goofy' ignorant mechanics would just start pulling 'those DAMNN vacume lines' and some times you have the wrong numbered lines going off to the wrong thing/sensor! And now people like us have to clean things up. U said after the 'rebuild' is that the carb? I've just looked through 3 books and can't seem to find it. The one that i had was a 83 1500 s and the diaphram was on the drivers side of the carb midway on the bottom. (i know.. i know..) You should see two of the screws that would be upsidedown (from bottom). That was the one that I've changed out on a number of hondas from deterioration.....BUT.. if you're not running rich it probably isn't it. I can send you my Haynes book if you need, but I'll need it back
