I am looking for pictures of 81 hatches or wagons. I would like to know what they look like. I have a general idea from a few pictures I have seen. Any interior pictures?

What are some problem spots on these vehicles? I have found a couple hatchbacks and a wagons for sale around my area. I have also found a 78 hatchback. I am unsure if any of these are CVCC engined cars.

Which would be a better choice as a daily driver, a 1st gen or a 2nd gen? I may do some modifications later on down the road so keep that in mind.

Thanks,
Eric

I forgot to ad....

One 81 needs some carb work, what exactly it needs I do not know.

The 78 is a 4spd (assume its not CVCC) and the ad says it needs a new carb.

What is the going price on a rebuilt carb or even a carb rebuild kit (I am quite mechanically inclined)? I live in CA so I can't just swap over to a weber just yet, I must smog the car after purchase.

There are two other 81s that appear to be in pretty good condition.

Thanks again,
Eric

Hey Eric,

In my opinion, unless you are in a position to change to a Weber, the carb is going to be the most important thing about buying a first or second gen Honda. When they start going south, it's pretty hard to get them back. I'll even go as far as saying, "There's nobody in your area who knows how to work on them". It really doesn't matter where your area is, people who can fix these carbs are few and far between(and getting rarer). New ones are expensive and used ones are a crap shoot.

I don't know if I've ever posted pics of my '80 wagon here, but I've seen a picture of a very nice hatch in these pages. It was orange.:)
