Hi all,
I have an 82 1500 5spd sedan. Yesterday i left my lights on and my battery died. I didnt have jumper cables around so i just had some one push start me in second gear. Well it started fine and i drove it for about 10 min and then turned it off. I then tried to start it again, and there was no juice at all. not one light would come on. I thought dead battery again, but my friend was there then and he had a battery that was new and he put his in and it didnt work either. So i started looking around to see if some wires possibly got burnt(actually smelled around). It ended up that the fusable link near the battery and by the Shock tower(?i think that is what it is called?) was burnt out. What could this mean. I can just get another one, but dont they usually go out because somehting else would have gone out worse. Right? well any help is appreciated. thanks

Something obviously caused the fusable link to burn out, but it could have just been an alternator surge due to you battery being dead. What you can do to see if there is a short of some sort use a multimeter set on resistance and test from ground to one or the other end of the burnt fusable link. If you get zero resitance you have a short in the system. If you dont replace the link and everything should be fine.
