i have a 1980 civic wagon with 4x100 hubs and was wondering if any of the later model stuff(calipers, rotors, STAINLESS BRAKE lines, etc..) will bolt on or fit on if coaked . im looking for the most bang for my buck here

Just measure the caliper bolt holes center to center and go to the nearest 'yard' and look from anything from a late 80's crx si to a 1gen integra. just make sure of the dimension of how high or far out the hat of the rotor sticks out from the rotor face to the lugs and compare that with yours. I think they didn't make vented ones til 82

Hey Parker

I just finished this swap on my '79. It is way simpler for the '80, you can use any caliper and rotor up to '87 I think, just bolt 'em on there. If you want to use stuff from '88 to current, then you will need to get '82 or '83 hubs pressed into the spindles. This will give you the right offset. Hope this helps.......Eric

I swapped the 4x120 non-vented '79 civic brakes out for 4x100 vented units from a CRX. It's almost a bolt-on affair. Your swap is a bolt on deal, but I did forget one thing.......you will need to use accord?? rotors with either civic or crx calipers to get the right offset. You need rotors with a 10mm deeper offset than the calipers you will be using. I'd ask Adrian, he knows the details for shure, he helped me with my swap.

Vented Accord rotors and calipers from about 82 (mayby earlier) upto about 85 will BOLT STRAIGHT ON. I'd go for the later ones (84-85 ish) as they are bigger. Many Civic and Prelude ones will probably also fit as a lot of them are very similar (they all use the same caliper bolt spacing).
The front of my car has 88CRX calipers and 84 Accord rotors on EN1 uprights. Zero modifications needed (other than removing the dust shield which was too small, but you could probably find the right sized dust shield from whatever the rotors come off).

Adrian... is this a bolt on install for an Accord as well? I'm not sure how similar Civic knuckles are to Accord knuckles...

I'd like to add this whole swap on my FAQ, so if anybody has any pictures, please email them to me.

thanks.

Paul

If they bolt onto a Civic, I'd be very surprised if they don't bolt onto an Accord (we are talking 4x100 though, not 4x120). Anthony converted his 4x120 Accord to 4x100 and I believe it was basically a straight bolt on with 4x100 drive flanges ... but you'll have to ask him to make absolutely sure.

yes, got the 4x100 part...

I'm also wondering if it would be easy/possible to bolt in the axle, knuckle, hub and rotors from an '82 Accord into a G1 Civic and / or G1 Accord.

Benefit being it's easier swap rotors on the G2 Accords (pull wheel, pull caliper, loosen 2 screws, off come the rotor). A benefit for me in the rally race world where its not unheard to chew up a set of rotors in a day on the gravel)

I'm wondering... what is the length of an Civic axle?
I know Accord ones are ~
34.5" (driver side)
24.25" on the passenger side

No, the Accord uprights will not fit on the Civic (don't know about the Accord). Do the EN1 drive flange/CV, caliper bracket, Accord/Prelude/Civic/CRX caliper, CRX rotor conversion.

When you use the EN1 hubs like Adrian says, the rotors attach from the otuside with 2 screws just like the accord parts you were talking about. This makes maintenance hellaciously easy.

hey im not putting anything from an accord on for brakes, since they are already the same diameter as my wagon brakes, oh and by the way, has anyone done a rear drum to disk conversion an an '80 wagon?

Accord rotors are bigger and vented.

The '80 civic stuff is basically the same as the '79 civic stuff as far as rotors and calipers go, thin, non-vented rotors......and teeny-weenie pads. You would see alot of improvement from this swap.
