i own a 1980 civic wagon with leaf spring rear suspension and i was wondering is there a way to convert to struts in the rear or any way to stiffen up the suspension other than shocks??

Not really, what are you trying to do?
if you want, get a helper leaf from JC Whittney and install it.

i can respect that you like your wagon but It really isn't suited for autocross.
But if you really want to... You can get lowering blocks installed and a harder shock from KYB (I can get the part number later) and install them.
It's gonna be more of a harsh ride if you want but it'll corner better
