I know that each year of 2nd Gen civic's had slightly diffrent grilles/lights.The 80 had round lights with horizontial slotted grille with H symbol in the middle, the 81 had round lights with a honey comb grille with H symbol in the corner, the 82 had square lights with a honeycomb grill and H symbol in the center and finally the 83 had square lights with horizontial slotted grille with H symbol in the corner.

My question is-Can you take the round lights from the 80-81 and install them in the 82-83??????The same with the grilles??????Would you have to replace the fenders or hood??????

Thanks!

adam,

hey! i guess you got the above info from civic.vtec.net, and i have found that this information doesnt seem to be right for us spec civics...

anyway, i have wondered the same thing about swapping the squares for the rounds; it seems to me that the front fenders would need to be swapped too. but, does anyone know the actual details???

I looked around a wrecking yard once with this in mind. I was thinking bumper and grill swap from my '80 to an '82/'83. However, there is a difference with the fenders and it was enough of a change that I would have to swap them as well. Since I didn't really want to spend any money on it anyway, that's as far as I got.

I think you would have to change the core support also.

i also think of this as you & went to someone who sells the old civic parts,& i saw the the 2 modules separetly..they can be swapped but this is very difficult & need a lot of work ..you have to change parts over the front wheels(i don't know thier name in english)&also you have to change the front car cover(i don't know its name in english but i mean the cover of the motor & bateery radiatar etc. i think you understand me..
finally it needs a lot of work to do this ..it will cost you a lot
