It doesn't idle consistently; one day it is fine, the next it's stumbling. It stumbles/hesitates on mid-acceleration. No problems with hard accel.

The engine is low mileage, but I put a timing belt in it, ajusted the valves, new plugs, wires cap, rotor, and Pertronix (to eliminate points). Niether of these made any noticable change in it, it's just the routine maintanence. The carb is a remanufactured one I picked up last month. I installed it, and played with the main idle mixture screw, and the idle speed screw. I have the car running and driving, but something still isn't adjusted properly on that carb.

Can you explain what the car is doing and what you have attempted so far? Include anything done to the carb as well as tune up and engine timing or engine work as it can all pertain to a diagnosis.
Not so sure that there is anyone really close to you, if there is they will respond eventually. You may have to work it out yourself with some direction from the board.

Vermont, for the next few months. The I'll be driving it out to Arizona. I am hoping to have this cleared up before then.

I don't have the civic; it's a '78 accord cvcc. It's in great shape, only 50,000 miles. I can't find anyone in my area willing to adjust the carburetor. It's a remanufactured one, but it needs the final tweaking (for proper idling, and rid the flat spots) Can any one help me get this figured out?
