I was looking in the Ripley's Belive it or not book and there is a 1973 Civic that is covered in dimes. I think I would have put my money into the car a dif way. lol

There was a '79 Civic CVCC with an engine swap on TV today. Didn't catch the name of the show, ("NOPI Tuner", or something like that), but it's the first one I've seen in a while on TV.

I expected his car to be black. ??
By Shea Laking (Sheaman71) (66.185.85.79) on Saturday, November 29, 2003 - 08:36 pm: |
Man, but I LOVE that paint job! It's kinda whimsical (The Rising Sun Flag) but the way it flows back over the car's body, just LOOKS fast!
Man, that paint job MUST be worth at least 20 HP!! Racing sticker kids, eat your heart out!
By shreck (66.185.85.79) on Saturday, November 29, 2003 - 02:34 pm: |
I didn't like the way they implied his car was falling apart.
How about the guy behind him, going side ways on the last lap.
By Jonathan (68.193.10.141) on Saturday, November 29, 2003 - 01:29 pm: |
Yeah, I did.... That's what all the smoke is in the 5th picture. Did you see him toss a belt right after crossing the finish line? If that happened a few laps earlier, he wouldn't have even finished. Good race on his part, though. Love the paint job.

Awsum, did you see his CV boot blow?

Just saw a "Target" department store Christmas commercial on The WB last night...I think it had one of those pre-Civic square hatchback things (N600?). The car was red, whatever it was.

"You Gotta See This!" Show this week showed the bit about them pushing a first gen out of a plane and using it to sky dive in then the poor thing slams the ground and is flat like a pancake.

Here is a new one, 'Arnold' in 'Commando' drives by two CVCC's in a hotel parking lot after he kills Bill Duke. Another is in 'Time After Time'-H.G. Wells time machine movie from 1980 with Malcolm McDowell('A Clockwork Orange' fame)drives a first gen. Accord through out the movie in S.F. and watch any Clint Eastwood 'Any Which Way' movies and there are plenty CVCC's parked-driving everywhere.Thank you

Now then, if memory serves;
There are some Mk1's in 'Stop or my Mom Will Shoot', I think one of them's a wagon and they're in or just after the scene where Sly's mother buys him the Uzi. There's also another in 'Howard, a New Breed of Superhero' (I think that's what it's called but it's the one with the duck and Charles Dance!) If you look through the back window of the taxi when Howard's on his way to the museum in the black plastic bag, there should be a green one in the distance. There's also one in an episode of Knightrider and there's also that film, I forget what it's called but it's got Cher and Liam Neeson in it, where Cher puts a sledgehammer through its driver's window.

Not all tv shows but...
In Cheers Norm drives a CVCC.
Dennis Miller drives a really sweet first gen in "Bordello of Blood"
Meryl Streep in drives on in "Silkwood"
Every episode of CHIPS has one in the background somewhere.

If you watch the Star Trek movie where they go back in time to San Francisco, right after the scene with the garbage truck, you catch a glimpse of a lime green first gen., I think. The movie was on TV, but if anyone has it on DVD, they can check.

Here's one, I saw a 76-79 Honda Accord in the movie Analize This. It's the part where Billy Crystal and his son are driving and hits the two bad guys. Jelly gets off to talk to him and you see an accord drive behind them.

If you look on Junk Yard Wars when they have to make the crane you will see that the car the crane has to lift is a white 1st Gen.

I was watching America's Funniest Home Videos and noticed a 78 or 79 Civic 1200 rolling down the hill.
Either the e-brake cable was VERY loose, or he forgot to pull the e-brake on !!
Did anyone else see it ?

Have you guys seen the new Honda commercial in the States? They start out with about a 1977 3dr yellow 1200, and work their way up to the new alternative fuel vehicles. They're all going one right after the other through a car wash. Me and some of my buddies, who are helping me with my civic project, were all chearing, kind of nerdy... but we're Engineers, what can you expect.
By Ed (24.43.71.141) on Saturday, March 23, 2002 - 04:21 pm: |
Actually....
I am pretty sure it was a yellow 3 door CVCC not a 1200. You can tell by the vents on the hood. BUT.... I only saw the commercial once, so I might be wrong.
By Jacob Ensign (Jacob) (128.223.209.113) on Sunday, March 24, 2002 - 09:31 am: |
Could be, every time I think I've got the hood thing figured out, I see another First gen with something that throws me off. Like the other day I was at a salvage yard and I pulled an EB3 head off of a 1200 and the hood (it was bolted on and latched when I got there) looked like what I used to think was a cvcc (it said 1200 on the fender).
Hopefully someday it'll all make sense.
By Ed (24.43.71.141) on Sunday, March 24, 2002 - 10:02 am: |
the fenders are longer on the cvcc

I saw an americas funniest home videos where a guy was cutting down a tree and it fell on his first gen civic. Then right after that clip there was one where a tree fell on a very nice looking first gen celica.. I didn't think those clips were to funny.
By dave (64.12.103.32) on Wednesday, March 27, 2002 - 04:46 pm: |
It might not be on tv but i have one! On Back to the future [1] When marty and jennifer are walking though the parking lot near the beggining of the movie there is a first gen backing out right behind um.
By Bryce (Gearhead99) (24.64.223.204) on Wednesday, April 10, 2002 - 11:10 pm: |
In Police Acadamey One they teach a guy to drive in a 78 civic (I think, new to first gen stuff). They rip the seats out of it and drive the crap out of it. The next seen that you see it, its betten up pretty good. Just thought I would throw that one in there.
By Dave (206.172.136.213) on Thursday, April 11, 2002 - 05:00 am: |
There is a pretty good "part" for a civic in the movie Inner Space with Martin Short and Dennis Quade. There even is a line when Martin goes to drive Quade's hi perf mustang. "becarefull this isn't a Honda civic ya know". I just saw it the night before last and it was really quite funny.
