You guys make me sick. In Southern Ontario a Civic of that age didn't look that good when they were 5 years old, let alone 25 years old, be glad you have plenty of them to buy for parts, all of ours have rusted so bad, they won't move without falling apart.

By Jacob (67.170.131.249) on Friday, January 23, 2004 - 08:58 am:

Yeah, I lift the front end of my "good" Civic by myself when I need to shift it around in the garage. It's stripped as well. yeah, that's me in the coveralls. We finished as it started to rain and ended up pouring.

By Ted (63.224.195.169) on Friday, January 23, 2004 - 08:39 am:

Those shots are very cool. I'll bet that windshield would have come out ok. Once you had it stripped Jacob, did you try to lift up one end by yourself? These cars are light. That's you in the overalls right?

What the hell happened there? :(

By Jacob Ensign (Jacob) (128.193.4.98) on Tuesday, February 18, 2003 - 02:05 pm:

It was the most rusted out Civic I've ever seen. The car was free, and only bill of Sale, no title (must have title to take it to salvage yard). Been sitting in a barn for years (was actually Jeremy Scholz's). So, we pulled all the good parts, and chopped up the rest.

Did you know that an entire 1G Civic will fit in the back of a Chevy shortbox pickup (in parts)? Me neither....

Got a lot of funny looks from people driving by.. and the cops...

I still want to get a pic of my CJ on a car like that... :-)

My daughter asked, "Is that how your car got broken?"

I guess that's her way of saying my car looks like crap. :)

By Dave (206.172.136.34) on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 - 04:40 am:

That is the most rusted civic you have ever seen??? Wow you guys have never been to Ontario lol. I have seen cars with holes the size of dinner plates. That car would be in the "not bad shape dept" When they get bad here you close the door and can still see the road from the bottom of the door. If you think im exagertating ask the other Ontarioans. It would be great to live in the land of rust free cars! :)

Dave where are you located in Onario?

By shreck (199.243.98.218) on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 - 04:58 am:

I mean Ontario.

By Daniel (Danielsan) (68.157.157.58) on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 - 08:17 am:

jacob!!! hey dont throw it away yet , i need something from it. if you want to sell the drivers door latch assembley (inside) and the rubber inside the window track of both doors, well any good rubber from the car. like the rear hatch rubber seal, rear window rubber and both doors inside windo and around the door, let me know if they are still good, i will buy them. take a pic if you can. would really appreciate it
Danielsan

By Daniel (Danielsan) (68.157.157.58) on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 - 08:18 am:

oh yea and the drivers door hindges!!

By Jacob Ensign (Jacob) (12.224.121.179) on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 - 09:59 am:

It got hacked up into 2'X3' pieces shortly after those pictures were taken. It's gone.

And Dave, you could actually see the road from inside the car when the door was closed, but only on the driver's side. It was bad (by Oregon standards).

Daniel, why didn't you tell Jeremy Scholz this when he posted that he was getting a '78 parts car (Buy & Sell). He posted like 2 weeks ago. Anyway, if we still had any part of it I'd try and hook you up, next time.

Hey Shreck I am just east of Oshawa. Where are you? Jacob my dad owns are auto wrecking yard (retrired) and we have seen things come in that you would not belive. We had one car that we were bombing around in that was so rotten that it broke in half. The drive shaft pulled out of the tranny and we were just sitting there making lots of noise and going nowhere but laughing our heads off.

By Shreck (66.185.85.77) on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 - 04:19 pm:

Hi Dave, I am in south Ajax, I have had my share of rotten Civics over the last four years. One I towed back from just north of London, when I got it stripped it just about folded in half. So I finished it off and cut the roof. I never thought I would ever get one and two half cars in my garage. What model and year do you have Dave? Do you have any Pictures? Have to put them on the web site with Colin, Ed, and Noels cars.
I used to see a Yellow trunk model around Ajax a couple of years ago. Looked sweet.

By Dave (209.226.249.117) on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 - 04:56 pm:

I have a 1975 1200 hatch 5spd. Hooker header, venolia pistons, weber, cannon intake, and this and that. The car needs a thorough going over. It has only a couple little spots on the body that need attention. It has been driven in only one winter when it was new. It has 48000 orig miles. The car has not been driven in years. I accuired it almost three years ago. I work in Pickering not too far from you. I will have to drop by and see your car.

By Shreck (66.185.85.77) on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 - 05:41 pm:

That would be cool, mine is nothing to look at right now, I hope in the next couple months to upgrade the tranny to 5-speed and do a motor swap. The one thats in it now has has no where to bolt the motor mount on the drivers side. The studs on the block are broken right off. I bought it in September drove it for 2 days when suprise, noisey or what. The cam pully came loose and damaged the keyway on the end of the camshaft and chewed up the timming belt. I have another one at my inlaws up north, it just needs turn signals for the front and the rear motor mount frame. Both are 78 1200 models. Nothing special about these cars.

By shreck (66.185.85.77) on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 - 05:44 pm:

Hey Dave, I think ED works in Pickering. I work near the Scarborough/Pickering boarder.

By Dave (209.226.249.117) on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 - 06:50 pm:

I have met Ed and saw one of his cars. He dropped over to my place awhile back. Nice guy/nice car!
Hey Ed do you have those pics that you took of my car? I realy dont have any pics of it.

By Ed (66.185.85.77) on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 - 07:28 pm:

I would love to meet you guys with other 1st gen civics. Mine is a '78 sedan. Canadian Tire primer grey. It runs but the oil is not pumping, so I have to get that fixed first. When are "we" thinking of having this meeting? I live in Burlington.

Chris
