That's great but do you have a spark? Do you know how to check for a spark? Unplug spark wire that goes from the coil to the distributor at the distributor so that it is still attached to the coil. Put the exposed metal at the end of the wire about 1/16" or 1mm from a good ground and turn the car over to see is a spark jumps. If it does you have spark if it does not your Pertronix may be dead. They area bit delicate. If no spark, try putting the points back in and see if you have a spark then.

I checked the plugs and they looked in ok shape. Whats another 10 bucks. Ill try then also.
I pushed the car about a mile. The problem was the last 1/10 was uphill and SLOW going. Thanks for the help

Just start with the basics, see if you are getting spark to the plugs, take the plugs out and see if they're fouled. I had a car do a similar thing, wouldn't start at all, but new plugs made it run perfect. If you're getting spark in the cylinder, check to see if you are getting fuel. Don't equate new with good, new parts could be bad too. Take off the fuel line to the carb, put it in a small bottle, and crank over the engine. The fuel should squirt into the bottle. Then re-check the timing. I hope you didn't have to push the car too far, even though these cars are pretty light, they're still not fun to push all that far.

I have a 78 1200 with a S&S header and a petronix dizzy conversion. Other than that its stock. Any way the other day i was driving to work and it hestitated and died as if the timing jumped a tooth or something. I pushed it home and checked the timing and it was great.
I then checked for voltage and this is what I found. With the key in the on position I have volktage to both sies of the ballast resistor, both sides of the coil. Assuming that the dizzy is grounding like it should thenm that not the problem.
I replaced the fuel filter and thats not it. I put in a new fuel pump about 6 months ago. Does anyone have any ideas. thanks Mike
