I wouldn't exactly say "offered", it's just the way there are. EB1 and EB2 (73-77) have a whole lot of slits in the back of the bonnet, EB3s (78-79) have the black scoop. This vent simply lets air in to the cabin ventilation "box". There are a couple of vents on the sides of the bonnet to let air out of the engine bay (design changed from EB1 to EB3).
The 1500 models have two little plastic scoops at back instead of one large one.

Yeah I'm talking plastic raised. So only after 78 were the plastic ones offered? Thanks

All the 1st gens had it, I beleive that it was in 78 79 that they were raised off the hood with the plastic rather than flush and metal.

Hello, I'm new here and am totally unfamiliar with Civics. I have one simple question:

Did 74 civics come with a vented hood. I'm talking about a single vent at the back of the hood near the base of the windsheild. Were these hoods optional on 74s? Did all of them come with the vented hoods? What cars came with it? thanks in advance for your answers.

Tom
