Thanks a bunch adrian, that reassuring. when i started to turn the engine, smoke started coming out the carb.

its still the original distributor. one more question. looking at the dist w/out cap and where is firing pointing to on the dist? like a clock is it 1,4,7,10 oclock?

What you have just described is an EB engine (1200), not a 1500 CVCC.
Yes, #1 is closest to the timing belt, intake are the "top" valves (the ones at the back of the head).
When doing timing and the like, don't forget that these are anti-clockwise engines.

Thanks for input. dont need the horsepower yet, just need to run it. I had already installed the engine, looks like its the same engine then. I still need to find out the timing on it. So the no.1 cylinder is closest to the timing belt right?
and the intake spring is the top one, correct? Because the intake is on the back and the exhaust is in the front. Yes.

Adrian's right the CVCC will fit but I would not expect any more HP out of it if thats what your thinking.

A 1500 will fit in a 1200 body and no they are not the same engine with a different head, they are completely different engines.

no they are not, the cvcc font clip is about 3" longer than the 1200, the intake/exhaust on the cvcc are both on the backside of the motor, the 1200 intake is on the back but the exhaust comes out of the front then wraps under the motor. the cvcc has an extra valve also.

aren't cvcc's just 1200's with different heads?

cvcc won't fit into the 1200, 1200 body is about 3 inches shorter than the cvcc.

Hey guys, from what I know both are eb2's and they look the same. but my timing is off.and i did not mess with the timing when i install the cvcc engine ( which was running when i drove it home). so my question: which is the intake and exhaust. my guess is the no.1 cylinder is closest to timing belt and the top spring is the intake. I've got a book but now Im confused. its blowing smoke out the carb and wont start. Help! I know it's basic for you guys, but I'm a newbie and love civics. Jarmee
