A lot of times it's just the starter contact that goes bad. If the back cover of the solenoid is shaped sorta like a baseball home plate with screws, you can take it off & replace the contact & clean up rhe plunger. I've done that about 3 times over the years and still have the original starter at 240k miles.

Honda lists different part numbers for these two cars so I don't think it will work-but I'm not an expert.

THe starter has crapped out on my 78 CVCC, my question is, can I use a starter from a 77 1200 without any problems? I have a spare from a 1200 sitting around. Both are 4 speed cars.
Can anybody help?
