OKiefab,
This message is just for you and your stupid uninformed comments and idle threats about the JERK from Texas relisting the civic for $2000.
My guess is the bid was raised to avoid bids from JERKS like you, who waste honest people's time.
People like YOU really make me mad. If anything happens to that car in Texas, the police will be on your doorstep,,,before you can studder I wwas jjjust kkkidding. You'll have plenty of time to explain yourself when you are behind bars. Think before you speak, next time.

Justin, I agree with you 100% about the cost factor. I'm restoring a '67 Chevelle right now along with my Civic, and parts can cost a fortune, but at least they're mostly all available. One of the attractive points of a Civic is the low cost to buy a really nice example.
Oleyline, I know of a pretty beat '77 CVCC 4-speed that's been sitting behind a shed for the past decade with a blown head gasket. It's located just outside Trenton, NJ, pretty close to you. Roger and I talked about parting it out, but we never got around to buying it, and the guy was asking a rather high price for a non-running Civic ($300 US). Do you want the guy's info? He said he was putting the car on e-bay if he couldn't sell it for $300, but I haven't seen it up there yet.

I don't understand why people think the first gens are worth so much money... The MOST I've ever paid was $400.00 (cad)for my wagon, only because it had working AC. That's the biggest reason I got into civic's was that they were cheap to work on... people on ebay are asking way to much for stock civic's...it just a matter of searching for them.. drive down alley's look in back yards you will find them! hell, you could have Tim's D16 powered '76 hatch for $3200.00(cad) and that would smoke most new rice rockets out there..

Hey, I'm in Allentown pretty often, almost went this weekend. If I'm ever in your area with my Civic, I'll let you know. Won't be until next spring at least though, I wouldn't dream of driving it in the winter. It's about as rust-free as they come in the Northeast, but still needs to have some work done on it. That's what this winter is for.

I'm in Allentown PA, so it was a 90minute drive for me. I had a Z600 restored a few years ago that started out a little rusty but turned into a major problem once we took the front fenders off. So I'm not to anxious to go through that again, although I'd really like to get a 1200 like I used to drive in the 80's. It was going through a quart of oil a week in the end but still drove great!

Oleyline, where are you located? Must be pretty close to NJ. I was going to look at that same car last week, I was at my friend's house only about 10-15 minutes away. By the time I got up in that area though, it was too dark to really see what was there. It sounds like it's in similar condition to mine, and mine's been a NJ car all its life too.

I drove over to NJ yesterday to look at the blue 1200 on Ebay - the one with 35k miles. For a 77 Civic in the rust belt, it's pretty nice. But it's not perfect. The usual rust spots have started - front inner fenders + behind all 4 wheel wells. Nothing major, but definately will need attention in a few years. Lots of surface rust underneath, no holes that I could see. Started up with a puff, but no smoke afterward. Idled fine after it warmed up. Slight hesitation. Will need brake work. Overall, probably worth around $2000. I'm kind of looking for something a little nicer. Maybe I'll bid on the white one in Texas....
