not looking to sell either setup as they are rare.

some people from the board offered me some money, highest i was offered was $750 but where could i ever find it again

i have been doing some research as to where i can get it rebuilt , but seems that no 1 wants to touch rayjay turbos.

im hoping to run the turbo on my new motor and have a hobbs switch that is connected to water/methanol injection so as i dont have to change the compression ratio

im just worried about the turbo as it didnt come with a wastegate, but the pipe from the exhaust manifold is extremely narrow so im thinking that it is actually the limiter some how

Looking to sell either of these setups?

The turbo set up discussed used a Warnerishi turbo and uses an 'integral wastegate' to control boost. It produces boost from 1800 rpm to 3000 rpm. I have heard of the rayjay turbo kit but have never found anything on the internet about the early Honda set up.

To change one more thing, the turbo kit described did not use dual carbs, they were just comparing their turbo kit to one that used dual carbs, high compression pistons, etc. The turbo kit produced a 54 HP gain over the 28 HP gain to the other motor. Stock was listed as 72 HP.

By Kurt Bosnell (142.179.39.216) on Monday, October 20, 2003 - 07:52 pm:

what happened there? It peaked at 126 Hp :) The kit cost $1957 or $31.39 each HP.

That peaked at ..... what? come on don't leave us hanging like that, play nice =)

It may be off the magazine stands by now but check out the September issue of "Honda Tuning" magazine. Pages 40-46 cover off an interview with Oscar Jackson where he discusses how he got started and modifications he made to the first gen Civic. In particular he mentions running a 14.85 1/4 mile time at 88 m/ph with a 1200.

The article also mentions building motors using the Canadian non CVCC head and the trips he made to Vancouver to pick up them up. apparently with head mods he would run compression ratios of 8.2:1 to 9:1.

Of real interest, to me anyway, was a wild ice racer he built with a first gen Civic and a 1751 cc motor. The car was turbo charged and ran nitrous oxide. There is an add for their early turbo kit for the motor that came with dual carbs, turbo, high compression pistons, recurved distributor and the applicable gaskets that peaked at !!! :)

I'll see if I can scan the article. Has anyone here actually ran nitrous in these old motors?
