I ordered an extra set too at that price they are a steal. The Avons will have to wait till next year. I got the whole set of four for less than one Avon. FYI The k8 compound is the same compound as the victoracer. It lasts a long time...which is just the ticket for us cheap bastads :)

By Don (199.2.139.176) on Thursday, May 27, 2004 - 07:08 pm:

The K8 compond is fine unshaved
The $37 tires are K8 and ther work fine

The k6 is softer but requires shaving or they may melt

The tread wear on the K8's are 40 so these are still very soft tires. Most street tires have a rating of 280 or higher.

They showed up in only 2 days. Man we live in amazing times. They look healthy, I put them in trashbags and put them away :-( Mabye I'll get to play with them next year.

By Don (199.2.139.225) on Monday, May 24, 2004 - 07:48 pm:

They are the same date code and rubber that I bought last year still no complaints. Buut.... Avon is coming out (next two weeks) with a 195 55 13 that is the same pattern as the Kum-V10 Those will be my next tire @ only 160 Ea! :)

I want to try them and see if the stick that mutch better. If not I will buy more of the Kumhos.

By Ted (24.21.44.39) on Monday, May 24, 2004 - 05:46 pm:

Great price even if over three years old. I'll bet they discovered a whole bunch of these tires in the warehouse.

By Zippy (Zippy) (12.106.14.107) on Monday, May 24, 2004 - 02:23 pm:

Thanks Don. I just ordered a set and they are on their way. For that price I couldn't pass it up. I guess I know what I'll be running when Zippy gets put back together.

175/60/13 Kuhmo DOT race tires for $37 Each! From Tire rack

By Parker (24.98.213.4) on Wednesday, April 28, 2004 - 09:37 am:

the problem with this tire was that the tread was delaminating after a VERY short time on the track. all the racers i know who had them were very satisfied with the level of grip they gave, but when they came back in, the tread was separating on almost everyone's tires. Kumho has recalled them, is fixing the problem, and is compensating the racers for their troubles.

Nice. I changed tires for years on everything from passenger cars to loaders and in my experience Kumho never has been a good tire. Of course I have no experience with race set-ups. We would usually avoid anything made in Korea (ie Hankook).

"KUMHO Tire's priority is safety, and we are committed to supplying our customers with the highest quality and best performing tires that are available anywhere in the world. It is with this philosophy in mind that KUMHO is taking immediate action in discontinuing the sale of the ECSTA V710 Competition Tire."

Just purchased a set of Kumho VictoRacer V700's in the 205/60-13 for my civic. This size will fit very well on my rims: my picture Best part about it I paid only 92.00 per tire, cheaper than what TireRack is selling them for (97.00) Right on!

I plan to take the FSP trophy for first place this year.

By Ted (63.224.195.169) on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 09:12 am:

I just heard back from Kumho and they said a 13" V710 will be coming out this summer. Too late for me as I need tires now, and by the time this tire is released in the 13", I will have completed 4 events. RATS! My guess the price will be around 110.00 each. I suppose this works out anyway as others will buy and test them out prior to my spending cash on them.

Here is the email I got from Kumho:

Ted,

Thanks for your interest in Kumho! We will have two 13" sizes available by June. 215/50/13, and 245/45/13. Hope this info helps, any other questions please advise.

Thanks,

Tirerack.com now has information on this new DOT tire, but it does not currently come in anything smaller than a 15". They don't have any for sale yet, but it's coming. The dumped the yellow lettering, which I think is very cool.

Found the compound codes for the V70A (Ecsta) pattern:

K6H=Soft
K8A=Medium>Hard
k9A=Hard

Don, I thought the Ecsta V700 first came in the harder Victoracer compound, and then the softer compound being offered currently. Where did you find out about a third compound?

By Twyla (142.179.6.58) on Wednesday, October 29, 2003 - 10:53 am:

Street legal slicks are awesome in the dry :) tonns of fun :) :) but with the slightest amount of moisture on the ground it gets kind of scary

By Goodriver (Goodriver) (64.180.222.241) on Tuesday, October 28, 2003 - 08:45 pm:

yo max.....ever taken a corner with slick tires in the rain ?!?!

By lazy (210.11.216.11) on Tuesday, October 28, 2003 - 06:48 pm:

maybe it's legal for "street" class drag racing (if it sounds stupid.. i know nothing about drag racing or the likes)

By Don (199.2.139.147) on Tuesday, October 28, 2003 - 06:45 pm:

Hoosier has a new street R tire that looks the same. Yes its street legal, But sticky has a price even the soft compound v700,there is three compounds, wear very very fast (as in at least two sets a season if you are easy on tires)

By Max (Max) (12.237.149.207) on Tuesday, October 28, 2003 - 06:33 pm:

are u sure thats street legal?

AllI know is it comes in 4/32" tread depth, and is stickier than the Kumho Ecsta V700's.

I sure hope they offer it in the 13" size.
