The current age for the smog exemption in CA is 1974 and older. The year will jump to 1975 on Jan 1st. I know that the BAR regs say 30 years, but the DMV is issueing registrations for the 74s as exempt, I just renewed mine and found that out for sure. A local smog shop showed me a pritout from the BAR that said the same thing, I just thought that there was an error, evidently it was right. Good luck!

As far as smog goes... You had better check with the DMV. I'm pretty sure that only '74 and ealier are exempt. But I think that it might have to do with what county you live in.

i know this question is probably asked hundreds of times but.. what is the most easiest swap to do on a first gen civic with little or no modification at all. i was told a 75' will not be required to smog.. in california, is this true?
