Yea it's Dennis, I thought an '82-'83 EL was a late model! I'm not getting much done on the Civic right now as I bought & fixed up a '96 Civic 4 dr. and then bought a '98 Toyota Tacoma that I am working on. The '96 is for sale along with my '88 Mitsubishi p/u. The Tacoma is a keeper & I have a set of 17's on it and am working on the suspension & stereo (my 2 favorite upgrades). Once I get past the holidays I should be back to only 2 vehicles and will have the Tacoma dialed in and I can get back to work on the little red car.

1300DX(Dennis?)
I thought you built up a late EL head, not an early one.

I was able to get all new valves & rockers for my '83 Accord EL-1 head. I ordered them through Meidle Honda in Canada. The parts dept. was very patient with me and the owner even offered to deliver them from Palm Springs to Phoenix! Then I told him how far it was-HA!! I never bothered to measure the valves as it was the only Canadian 8-valve head I had seen and I didn't know there were different valve sizes.

I don't know the exact year, I do know one of the heads is the last design produced for the EL motors, and uses the largest valves. The other two heads I have are earlier EL heads and fit the earlier 1500-1600 blocks. Those are the valves I need. A list of valve part nos. by year used and descriptions might be helpful.

List out what are looking for and I will check on availability and price. Do you know the exact year and model the heads are off of?

CVCCx2,
As you are working in the parts dept for a Honda dealer, can you still get valvetrain parts for Canadian non-CVCC EL 1500,1600,1751 heads?

Hello my friends in the great white north. I'm suprised nobody asked where the 51st state was. I just wanted to say that I love Canada, all of the Canadians that I have met, all of the places I have visited. The fact that the First Gen Revival came from there only adds to its greatness. Could this great land be even better than I imagined. Check out this link. It makes Canada look like a utopia. Is it true? http://www.forbes.com/free_forbes/2003/1110/146.html?partner=netscape

Oh yeah, since we're doin' intros...
My name's Shea, I'm 32, married, with no kids just yet (we're workin' on it). I currently work as an apprentice Heavy Truck Technician at Ryder Fleet Services in Scarborough. My wife and I live "just down the street" from Ed, in Oshawa Ontario. My ratty garage is now home to Crusty, a 1976 Civic 1200 car of many colours. I happened to be visiting with my old pal Colin, just when he decided to sell this car...it looked so damn cute sitting there that I immediately asked my wife's permission to buy it and the rest is history. I've always enjoyed boneyarding with Colin, so now we'll just be hunting for the same parts!

My wife and I just visited The Big Apple on our Thanksgiving Weekend (you guys call it "Columbus Day.")
I'd just like to say that we both had a FANTASTIC time, stayed in Manhattan, saw a Broadway show (Chicago) on Saturday night and just drank in the scenery! :D We'll definately go again, next time we'll be spending AT LEAST a week, so we can see more of what we want of the sights. All the people we met were about the nicest you'd want to meet anywhere.
I'd definately recommend a vacation in NYC...just leave the Civic at home and FLY in!! :D

Funny how the most popular of the websites dedicated to first gen Civics originate in Canada!! This one, Shreck's site and Dr. Zoom's all were born in the Great White North, I'm so proud to be Canadian!!
I'm Colin, 30, Parts Manager at the local Honda dealer for 7 years, married, with 1 daughter.
My little 12' x 40' garage houses my 76 CVCC hatch, 78 CVCC hatch, 82 Civic Wagon, and my 81 Civic hatch.
I got hooked on these cars when I was a little gaffer riding around in the back of my mom's 75 Civic, I thought they were pretty cool.
In my area (Eastern Ontario) they are few and far between, so finding cars in wrecking yards is next to impossible.

Look at that. The peeps from the 52nd state want to play too. :-) You know you're always welcome, I'll show you around NYC and such. But you're not Yankees. To be a Yankee you have to endure the torture of the never ending megalopolis of the Northeast unitl it turns your soul black.

By Jonathan (66.252.173.251) on Wednesday, November 05, 2003 - 07:37 am: |
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, it seems like quite a few people from the northeast have shown up over the past few weeks. As for my info...
I'm Jonathan, 24, and have a '79 CVCC that's going to undergo a restoration pretty soon. Hopefully I'll have it done by spring. I'm Mechanical Engineer, currently working for a HVAC company, single, no kids.
Roger, I'm not sure what I'm doing this Saturday, I'll let you know if I can make it. I'll also have to see if I still have the directions to your house.

Seems like there have been a lot of Yankees on the board lately. Identify yourselves.
I'm Roger, 35, SCCA Auto-X '79 1200, environmental consultant/geologist, married, 1 kid.
I am having a bon-fire(very small) and lunar eclipse party(beer and stuff) on Saturday and everyone is welcome to join. It will start at about 7:00 and run till about 12:00. I live in PA just across the river from Trenton NJ. If you want to come, let me know and I'll give you directions.
