Just A little update on the site.

It is up but there are a tonn of broken links.
Plus I still have to finish uploading the rest of the files.
The links pages are ok if you stick to the side bar.
If you look when you get to the index2 page you can see I have disabled the bad links.
I am still waiting for the dot com but you can use this for now.

I see there is some interest in the site. Sorry I did not get back sooner as I have been looking around the web for the best deal that is affordable, There are some good deals around, but anything close to home is too expensive, Why are all the good deals out west and south of the border.
Anyhoo, I am waiting on getting a dot com. Might as well do it right the first time.

A friend of mine sent me an interesting email from the web version of the Toronto Star newspaper about my current provider.
Basicly they are cutting off customers for heavy usage, but not giving them the tools to monitor or giving them a limit by whitch to judge what heavy usage is. After reading the artacle I got the impression that they want customers to leave.
I could not belive what a pain in the butt these guys are. They even redirected the site in the artacle about rogerssucks.com. to there own site.

I will keep you updated

If someone wants to organise a whipround for Shreck I'd be glad to put a couple of bucks in! I'm sorry to see the site's gone down.

By the way, I'm putting stuff together for a website of my own. I'm hoping to try and get as many as possible of the UK (and Europe?) Civics still existing to 'stand up' and be counted. There aren't that many left.

I chipped in on this site and would gladly do it for your site!

Felipe, I love how people that don't contribute anything to Richards site just sugest that he get another server? That costs $$$$! People its time to get your thumb off your mouse and grab a pen and start writing checks! Shreck will burn out in time too, If he finds out that the majority of people that enjoy his site refuse to contibute.
Dr Zoom had cool site too but its down too Probably due to funds and time.

i think that randy should get another server with more room and help him out! because his site rocks!!! his page was the most complete civic page ever and updating constantly

Thanks for feed back, but if I am going to move the site I need some ideas of content and I am sure it is going to grow? I have to figure out how much space would be required for future growth.

Some ideas I had are:
A dotcomI would purchase bogangles firstgencivic.com
A members area for maintaining your contacts and email in a format to prevent spam.
A self posting buy and sellwhere you can remove your own ads.
A members area
Private Chat roomsCan use MSN messanger
Video Quicktime

Whats your ideas?

Just remember I am not looking for cash at this time, I wanted just to be sure I am not wasting my time and money moving the site.
But those of you that feel the site is worh it and want to make a donation it is welcome.
If any money is left over it could go to Richards site or to prizes for the spotlight contest. What do you think?

Shreck, check into a pay site, I would gladly help put money into it :) Or perhaps you and Richard could work something out? it would be a great loss, to the First gen world if you had to lose such a great site :)

How can I help?

By Don (199.2.139.147) on Saturday, November 08, 2003 - 09:34 am:

www.netfirms.com
has hosed my site for about two years now. I have been happy and there are several options availible, reasonably priced.

I too find this site valuable. I would love to put together a 1G Civic site but do not yet as I do not want to interfer with this site. I hope to see this site grow in information as well as members.

IF YOU NEED A CONTRIBUTION TO KEEP IT UP ILL BE HAPPY TO HELP!

Shreck, your site is the first of any first gen site with that much info on these cars - a wealth of knowledge for sure. The ads, and pictures page are worth it alone. Whenever someone is remotely interested in my project I take them to your site for an introduction to these cars.

Its guys like you and Richard that keep these cars alive by sharing them with the world.

I must admit I was wondering how you could keep such a huge site going. I hope to see it up and running and if there is anything we could do to help just ask.

Kurt

Shreck I love your site! Keep it alive!! It's the only first generation civic site that gets updated.

By CVCC x 2 (64.229.48.100) on Friday, November 07, 2003 - 08:03 pm:

Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but, like I did for this site, I will make a financial contribution towards Shreck's site if he needs to switch providers to keep the site alive as it is now, with room for more.
There are few references available to us folks who love our first (and second) gen Civics, and I am a picture guy, a picture means a thousand words. Being able to see the different aspects of these cars in colour pictures is one of the great draws to his site.
Don't get me wrong, I love this site too, and would do the same for Richard if the need arised.
Shreck's site has become a showcase for many of us to show off our pride(s) and joy(s), and asks nothing in return.
I know how much effort Shreck has put into his site and it would be ashamed to let it all go, he spends much of his spare time making his site better for the benefit of all of us who love these special little cars.
Anyone else out there feel the same?

Hello everyone, I am sorry that the site is down again. It went down the middle of October and came back Nov 1 10am and was back down at 1am Nov 1st. Seems strange with such few visitors in those few day that I have exceeded the bandwidth allowed. I will be back up Dec 1 at which time I am sure that will not last very long again.
I have been thinking about reducing the site down to only the links page and a couple of projects. It breaks my heart to do this but it is better than nothing.

I had a much bigger message but I am sure you don’t want to hear it. I know there are a few here that will be pissed and one that will never take to me again for doing this. The ones I mentioned have contributed greatly, I am sorry and you must be disappointed.

I am unsure of what to do, should I find another provider or scale down the site.

I need your feedback

How many of you want to see the site again?
Have you ever been to the site?
If a decision was made to keep the site what would you want out of it?

On a softer note.
Just before the site went down again there was a section for basic information on engine swaps and simple hopups. Ted also sent me info on performance parts for the site as well as others over the last 6 months. I finally did Justin’s VW strut setup from the help of the archives and bogangles.

The site keeps me very busy with lots of email, as well as the ones looking for information on these great little cars. I replied to every one of them, with help from Frito and our new friend Felipe from Chile translating Spanish for me.

Sorry Richard for doing this on your site.

If anyone is looking for pictures and links I am hanging out at MSN Groups and you can find the links on the tab Web Page. And see a new Guy from Chile “Eduardo” racing.
