You dont need to. I just did for SMOG check here in CA. They are really tight on all the factory stock smog equipment here.

Why do I have to use the stock carb? This thing has been sitting for quite a while; when I tried to start it, it blew a vacuum hose off the carb, and it starting leaking from every place it could. When I say leak, I really mean spray. I'll try and post some pics of the wagon and my 83 tonite.

Its a bolt in Motor mount wise. You will need to use part of the 83 front mount, block off the EGR, use your stock carb, and you will need the 83 down pipe for your exaust. Just cut it before the cat. You can also use your stock distributer if its not a automatic or upgrade to the electronic one that it has also.

What's involved in putting my 83 en1 and 5spd into my 77 wagon that has an ec motor. I haven't seen anything on this board about ec engines. If it works, I'm ordering a timing belt today, so any help please!!
