FIXED!!!
Thanks heaps for your input.
Turns out though that it wasn't any fault of mine, but some dodgy manufacturing.
A small metal plate from inside the unit had fallen loose and was resting accross a whole lot of exposed circuitry.
Damn that was nasty.
Anyway, after hours of head scratching, lots of mobile calls to knoledgable friends, hours of rewiring, a load of fuses, it all came down to a dodgy unit.
Well the plate is fixed PERMANENTLY back where it should be, no more drama.
Thanks for your support guys

The fuse that keeps blowing is on the memory 12v cable (stores presets when car is off). It is pretty small, rated at 7A 250V.
I guess I should go back and triple check the wiring.

I wouldn't be ruuning your stereo through the stock fuse box anyway. Run your power directly to your battery and throw in an in line fuse. If your blowing fuses that quick you must have a bare wire contacting some metal.

well first off take off the - battery cable if it's blowing when you put them in, you up'ed the watts going throw that wire so your going to need to up the fuse as well, if it was a 15, go 30...yea run a risk of shorting, but its taking more power to run your digital stereo then the 80's analog stero 8 track.

I installed a 160watt head unit and 2 6x9 speakers into my 78 accord a few weeks ago. There were no dramas. I was cruising with beats for weeks
Then the other day all of a sudden my stereo stopped. No biggy, i will just change the fuse.
But whenever I change the fuse it also blows as soon as i put it in!
I have checked my ground connection, it is firm, as are my power connections to the main fuse box.
Can anyone suggest anything? Help much appreciated. Thanks
