So I have a 1978 Civic Cvcc 1.5L and I'm having some carburation problems with it. When sitting at idle a few days ago I noticed that the tach was throbbing slightly, within 50-100 rpms. I tapped the gas and the tach shot up as it always has but when it came down it dropped way below idle and nearly stalled. I took off the air filter and looked down into the carbs I'm not experienced with this car but I know when something is flooding, the rear barrel seems to have an excess amount of gas trickling down to the butterfly, the middle barrel seems to be almost dry and the I couldn't really see into the front barrel. Since then I took apart the carbs to check the floats and needle valve, they are both functioning correctly. As I was investigating I pulled off a couple vaccum lines (thin black ones that connect to a vaccum assembly on the same side as the fuel lines, they run to a 'Y' and terminate at a small vertical cylinder mounted on the firewall directly in front of the driver, it has yellow and black wires running to it), when I disconected these the rear barrel stopped flooding but there was no power when I reved the throttle. As is, it opperates fine at high speeds but when I come to a stop light it dies because it has a hard time idling. Any Ideas?
