Hi Randy
Thanks for the info, this is great!
My rockers have been totally wasted by a succession of cheap body shops so there isn't anything really left worth taking working measurements from.
I was just wondering though, do the rockers flare out at the back where they open out into the rear wheel arch? I ask because mine seem to get a lot 'chunkier' at the back and I don't really know for sure whether Honda designed them kind of like that or whether the back of my rockers have just accrued more bond-o than the rest. Are wagon rockers substantially different to the 3-door cars do you know? Mine's a 5-door so it may share features with the wagon.
Cheers
Keil

Here are more pictures I took a few months ago. I marked out where the floor was cut out and replaced. You can see why I would double over the seam along the rockers to give it extra stength as well as keeping the water out of the seam.
There is many more new picture here:

Hey Keil
I took some pictures and measurements of the slice of rocker panel I have.
If you have any questions post them here or email me, I will be glad to help.

To do the inside it is a major job.
First I removed the interior and the seat rails, it makes it easier to remove the inner rockers. Drill out the spot welds and try to remove the section with a very sharp wood chesel in as big a piece as possable. Try not to drill through to the outside. But if you do you can use the holes to weld the new piece back in. I used a piece of Vynial flooring to make a pattern as it is stronger than cardboard and it can be cut with tin snips too. Remember when you make the inner piece to include the bit that goes below the floor. Also when I made the outer rocker I made the bottom edge to wrap under and sandwitch the floor tab to the inner rocker.

Hi Randy
That's great work you've done, Hope mine turns out that well! If you could take measurements and a template from that panel you have that would be a great help. From the look of things I will need to replace the full length of both of my rockers. That's including the outer and inner sections. Mine have been totally butchered so I doubt I'll have much original to work with. Everything below the doors on both the inner and outer rockers is gone, so I need all the help I can get!
Cheers

Hi Keil,
Sorry I took so long to get back to you but I have been very busy, I haven’t been here for quite some time.
I have a left rear quarter from a car I stripped in really good shape and it has about one foot of the rocker panel attached. I could draw a template for you with the measurements.
Depending on how much is being replace it can become more difficult to bend; when I made mine I figured out the measurements and transferred them to a small piece of 22 gauge sheet metal. This I could figure out easily where to make the first and last bends. I believe I started from the middle and worked my way to the edges. Practice first and then make what ever length you need.
When I made them they went from the rear wheel well to under the front fender. The other side was from the back of the door to the front under the fender. These went from the bottom to the top outer lip where the weather stripping seals against. In one small area on the top flat under the door I repaired it separately to make it easier. I left about ¾ to ½” to overlap in some cases less depending on the extent of the rust.

Do you have to repair the inside part of the rocker as well?
If you check this picture you can see how much I replace to give you and idea how much was removed.
take a closer look
Randy

Hi Randy
I'm just about to replace the rocker panels on my Civic, the problem is that I've got to make new ones from scratch and there's not enough left of the original steel to make decent templates. I know you've done this sort of thing before and I was wondering if you'd be able to supply a few measurements and some words of advice before I begin?
Many thanks
Keil
