don't forget about valve guide stem seals, and aux. valve assy. o-rings and stem seals. If your car is idling for a while, thats is high vacumn for a while......if stem seals are old and hard, then oil will go past and be introduced into the combustion chamber. Aux. valve assem. also has an outer o-ring that gets hard with age. This lets oil go into the small spark plug chamber and gets burned. dead giveaway on this is oil soaked or fouled plugs. #4 always seems to be the first to go.......just some very possible culprits from my exp.....Rick

check your compression in your cylinders......if it has been sitting a long time it might take some time to reseat the rings.

hello all, Im a newbie to this forum and i need some help. I brought a 1976 cvcc civic , It has been sitting for about 7 months . today I got it home and let it run after changing spark plugs and antifreeze. it ran for about 10 minutes while I checked it out for leaks and stuff and I noticed it seemed to be smoking just alittle ... is there something that I can do to cure this problem, if not and the motor is gone what would be another non cvcc motor that I could put in with the least mods ....thanks for any help
