There isnt enough difference between the 1200 engines to warrant a rush. I have gotten better perfomance from a Eb2 head. My new engine will smoke the old 1200 with a RS/Eb3 head. I have a genuine RS head and its exactly the same as the USA Eb3 head even has the same casting #. The only difference is the cam tach drive and I gave that to Frito when he bought the Mugen cam.
Think velocity :-) unless your building a Gt5.

Adrian, I looked inside and I could see the numbers on the pistons stamped on them but the ring is below the piston and I can not get a good lood inside them there holes

hehe ... spent too many hours inside these engines .
I'm sure someone here would want it, especially if it's a new GL. Have a look in a plug hole at the top of the piston. If the crown is raised with valve reliefs then it's a GL/RS. If it's slightly dished then it's just a normal EB1.
It's no use to me as I'm on the other side of the world and I don't really know what you should be asking for it. I suppose you'd at least like to get back what you spent on it .

So do you think it has a value for someone

Why yes you are correct I was looking at the rockers and thier is only one cam in it you must know your engines Adrian. sorry about that. it is a clean engine not a drop of grease on the thing.

You must be looking at the rocker shaft as there is no such thing as a twin cam EB engine .

The head is inculded and when I took off the oil cap their are 2 cams in the head. just the head and block.

An EB engine will not actually fit in an 80-83 shell quite so easily. The EN (EJ in the US) engine uses different mounts. There is one on the front of the block that the EB block does not have. It'll just drop into any 73-79 1200 body (seeing as it's the engine designed for the car!)
The RS and GL engines have bigger ports and valves, higher compression, better cams, enormously better exhaust than standard EB1s. The GL had a single carb (bigger than standard), the RS had twin carbs and a bigger cam than the GL.
Is it a complete engine (i.e. including carb(s), exhaust dizzy etc.) or is it just a long block?

I garantee its a EB1-5XXX
By Todd (172.169.30.169) on Sunday, January 18, 2004 - 08:26 pm: |
I think the EB1-5 is a GL and the EB1-7 is the RS. Same bottom end and head, just different cams and carbs. Do a search here, I'm sure this has been covered before.

The EB1 will fit in any Honda Civic 73-83,However it would be best suited to the early 1200 model.

Well Goodmorning Ed,
I'm not sure I wish to sell it just yet. But,as the old sane goes everything is for sale. What do you think it would fit into? And the people at ATK where great people to talk with and had fast respond's when I called them. They tracked it down and called me on the progress every few days, and I'm telling you I do not think this egine has been in a car I'd work with them agian if I needed to. The whole engine is spotless, and I looked at the pistons with a flash light and it look's brand new. (Selling bitch there). But the ATK stamp is still on it and when I called them it took them a week and a half to track it down, it was on microfish in the back and he said it had to have been in the states US, for 20 years.

Hello New here,
I purchased a Honda engine that I had hoped would fit into a 1993 Civic, and when it arrived it turned out to be a EB1-5XXXX.
It was shipped in from Japan some 20 years ago and looks brand new. A cannot find not a scratch on it or rust. Might be a new engine that never was used, still on crate. However I doubt it will work in the 93 Civic and have found A D16Z6 with Tran for the car. Now here is where I need help I want to purchase a car that needs an engine but do not know what makes and years this EB1- 5XXX would fit into with little trouble. Any idea's out there.
Ty ahead of time,
Jerry in the snow rich state of Michigan
