I wish I knew that, now I'm scared to see what the duty will be for my carbs coming from Italy.

In the past when I've had things shipped over from the US is to have it shipped by airmail, and marked up as a 'gift'. That way the customs man over here doesn't get his hands on it! Another thing was to mark up the cost as $10 or less. The 'gift' one's my favourite. My alloy wheels turned up that way, over $200 declared as value but no VAT/ customs charges added! (Mind, he had described them as antique too)

Yes it is free trade, But you do not have an account with UPS. Before I used to pay another broker $30.00 for each shipment. When I switched to UPS as a broker & carrier my cost is now $15.00 per transaction up to $5000.00. Check your documents, is there a duty charge included? If so in the future you should ask the seller to mark the parts as "vintage". Vintage come across duty free. I got my shocks sent by US Postal Service.

note to people that ship to the north. In the packing slip they give you, say its a replacement item and you won't get charged the duties...other wise be like me and don't ship to canada

Yeah, I mean Canada is like the USA's 51st state, eh... The nerve of UPS to charge you for what ammounts to interstate shipping. I bet the are part of the secret council that keeps the USA from absorbing your guys. It's all a big Conspiracy. :-)

I'm sure a lot of you Canadians have gone through this before, but I gotta vent: I had some '78 parts (shock absorbers) shipped up from LA to Vancouver this week by UPS. The price was $80 US. When it came across the border I had to pay $12 in GST (fine with me) but I couldn't believe the UPS brokerage fees of $40. They're adding 50% for what?? It's always a pain to ship across the border but this is crazy.
