Ah man....So here's my story.
I bought my baby about 2 years ago. Spent many days just sitting there staring at it thinking of all the possibilites i could do with it. Welp...about 6 months went by and I finally saved up enough pennies to get it in a shop for a motor rebuild. Yeah...So about 7 months later i get a call saying I could go get my car finally. Welp...drove her 7 miles and got just around the corner from my house and a giant smoke stack came out from under the hood...seems the rebuilt the motor...just not the water pump. That ceased up and well there went that idea. So now its just sittin in my garage. I just got a new job last week about 20 miles from home and my truck drinks gas faster than i can put it in...with the gas prices soaring im gettin broke....not to mention it hasnt been registered in a year and its bound to explode any second now. So Im on here asking for any help in getting my honda going. If anyone in the area can help me out Im in Glendora...my e-mail addy is cowb0yup57@yahoo.com
Ive been on here before and know you all are pretty damn good with these cars and so far the only people ive found before were f'in jackasses who just screwed me! help anyone?

I found a guy that will lower my civic for $500.00 Coil over springs. anyone know if this is a good price or a rip-off?

Well, the spoilers are now painted to match the cars. As you can see, the silver civic is in need of a paint job. So I'm saving my cash for that now. The spoiler doesn't fit the 78, 79 civics that well, only 77 and earlier. Here's some sample photos.

I loaded-up my civic with some tiles and I liked how it looked lowered. Anyone have a lowered civic that could post some photos? Also, how do you lower it? I'd like to lower my car at least 2 inches all around.

I didn't mean I got the engine redone. I had the head gasket replaced and had the head rebuilt. Now it runs perfect. I've taken some new photos of the car and just found a bad ass spoiler for it. Spoiler ran me only $150.00 Anyone else interested?

It runs like new now. Only took $800.00 to get the engine redone. Now I'm loving it and just in time for summer ;)

Excellent find Roger! I can't believe you got it for only $50.00. Does it run as good as it looks?

Well, it's good to see that more people are getting involved in the Southern California Civic posting. Here's some photos of a great find and purchase that I did this Friday. Don't drool too much guys. I bought it from the original owner for $50.00 That's correct, $50.00 Poor guy is moving to England and it would cost too much to import this car there. Anyway, I'm also posting a photo with a great repair shop here Central San Diego, CA. They've done excellent work on my car and I wouldn't take it anywhere else.

Congratulations Cody, looks like I have at least 2 more years to go before I can install a webber on my car. By the way. If anyone is interested in a 1st Generation Civic run in Southern California, e-mail me or post a message on here. I'll be more than happy to arrange it.

they juust changed the smog laws in california. now if you car is 1975 and older you are smog exempt. and every year the exemption year moves up so in 2005 if you have a 1976 and older car you are exempt. i was having problems smoging my turbo civic, because of the turbo. so i was looking for the smog laws and i found that the just changed it in oct, 2002. now my civic is exempt because of the law change. and i am so happy.

California is very strict on smog/emessions. The last year make that starts being free of tests is a 1974 model car. Sucks but it's the law. Either way, I'm hanging on to this Webber and in 3 more years, I'll be able to install it and not worry about any smog/emessions.
By bruce (66.20.225.132) on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 - 04:54 am: |
sony, you should be able to lean the carb out enough to pass emmisions, I can't believe they still make you take it. I thought once the car reached a certain age that it was grandfathered

Hey Bruce, I know I'm suppoused to get like 40mpg on my stock Carburetor, but I find myself visiting the Gas station often. My foot is stuck on the gas and I can't stop showing off my car in the San Diego freeways
By sonymmx200 (68.8.152.117) on Monday, February 23, 2004 - 11:28 pm: |
I'd love to install my Webber but I'm afraid I'd have to remove it when my car is up for SMOG again next year. That's the problem with California and emmissions. Oh by the way, I found some optional guages like mine. If anyone is interested, here's the link.
No reserve either.

sony, I have a 32/36 on my cvcc, I like it, took some time to tune it in, it gives better response to the gas pedal, it does get to 6 grand in first gear really fast. makes downshifting and passing fun too. only thing I have found is when you let off on the gas is does jump a little, but with pressure back on the pedal it smooths back out. I don't get as good as gas mileage, but then again my foot is in the gas most the time.

Anybody in here have a weber carburetor on their Civic CVCC? I have one but I don't know if what benefit this would be for my car. Anyone know?

I think I have seen ones with a bushing for some mounting hardware maybe thats what the gap was for. Hey, Scott wasn't that your old yellow car?

Huh, I guess mine is bent or something. When I place it on the bumper, the middle two bolt holes are about a half inch above the bumper. It does look straight, though. I'll take a picture tomorrow when it's light out to show what I mean.
By sonymmx200 (68.8.152.117) on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 01:11 pm: |
If you look closely, the over-rider is centered from the two black plastic pieces on the ends. Very easy to drill and install. My over-rider stayed in place while I drilled. I'm looking for a front one, but considering installing BMW angel fog lights instead. I'm also looking for 13" custum wheels and air dam. Anyone have any ideas? Roger
By bruce (66.20.225.159) on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 08:58 am: |
Jonathan, the overrider bolts right onto the bumper, just center it up and drill your holes.
By Jonathan (66.252.173.251) on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 06:13 am: |
Hey Roger, can you take a few close-up pictures of how that bumper overrider mounts? I've got one that I'm going to be mounting up soon, but I'm not sure where each hole has to be drilled. From the pictures, it looks liek the two outer mounts are on the filler panel, and the two inner mounts are on the bumper? Is that correct?

Hey,
I am in Sol Cal in the IE area. Where you from? Clean looking Civic inside...shiney.
No meets that I know about just for 1g Civics but there are tons of Honda meets and our cars always get a bunch of attention there. I am taking mine to a meet (del Sol) next Sunday....that is if it is not sold first.

Any know if there's any 1st generation Civic clubs or meets in the Southern California Area?
By sonymmx200 (68.8.152.117) on Saturday, January 31, 2004 - 01:24 am: |
Well, I finaly got my car back from the repair shop. After breaking an auxilary valve and buying the wrong head on Ebay, they were able to swap out the good parts from the wrong one and make me a sweet running 78 Honda Civic CVCC. My next project for this car is to get the webber carburetor installed so I can gain horse power. Even though my car is mechanicaly sound, the paint job will be the last thing I do. I'm considering dark midnight blue. Anyone have a midnight blue civic? I'd love to see samples of what some of you Southern California owners have. I look forward to messages and for potential meets. Roger.
