hey all,
i'm replacing a cam in an EK motor. its a long story, but basically i may be buying a '76 1200 with an ek engine in it. the guy put in a cam from a later engine(????). anyway, i got a good used ek cam and brand new cam gear. the cars been sitting for over a year. i'm wondering, first off, if you are sopposed to use some kind of special cam oil when preforming this task? what are the important areas? i think i'm going to do an oil change before i start the car. get the whole head oiled up first. i'm also going to drain the gas tank and put fresh gas in. i'll check and gap/clean the plugs/wires and throw in an electronic ignition kit i have. i just want to make sure the car has the easiest route to starting with no problems. i've heard of good running cars left to sit for a year or two of sitting, then trying to start them cold turkey and messing stuff up. any thoughts would be great.
thank you kindly,
david
