kurt, I beleive that is actually an air diaphram for the vapor recovery system, if you lightly blow in it you can hear it open and close.

It looks stock. To find the filter I had to remove a small aluminum metal panel that is situated towards the middle of the rear seat area. Its held on with a few Phillips bolts I don't imagine too many people remove it as it looks as though it just holds the lines in place but I had to when I painted the inside of the car. There is a little cubby hole behind the panel and a little orange filter is tucked in there. My car is a 78 so I can't say whether or not they are on the earlier models or not.

I opened up a 1200 tank, there is a filter/strainer inside it.

Yeah right after I posted this I realized it may because the other lines are blocked and creating a vacuum, so I will pull some off and try it.

I have the back seat out right now, I never saw a filter under there in all 4 of the 1200s Ive had, maybe yours was put in by someone Kurt.

Lazy that might be the prob too, thing is I dont know how the damen thing gets looped, I never had the CVCC model before and I dont have one to look at.

My 1200 has a loop of piping which from what i'm able to gather is used to separate fuel and its vapor counterpart before getting sent to the main fuel delivery outlet. Perhaps the reason your pump is operating erratically is because you've apparently bypassed this loop and as a consequence are pumping fuel and vapour.

While on the subject of fuel tanks... do the 1200's have a filter or strainer in place somewhere before the main fuel delivery outlet on the tank?

You blocked all the other lines? I'm no mechanic but if you block all the lines than the pressure would build up in the tank and you would likely encounter the problem you are describing. Those extra lines are in place to relieve the pressure in the tank.

Also, when I ripped apart my shell to paint it I discovered a small filter between the return lines. It is tucked up under a metal panel underneath the back portion of the rear seat. Maybe its plugged?

Just my two cents.

So I put a CVCC gas tnak in my 1200. The 1200 was rusty and restrictng fuel to the carb, the CVCC tank was mint. I mounted the tank in but it has different outlets than the 1200 tank.

I think I found which one delivers fuel to the carb, but its still not getting enough gas. I even put a 7 lb universal elec pump near the tank and its still not pulling enough gas, just spitting it out sporatically. And to get it to do that I just hooked the elec pump to the tank outlet. Other than that it doesnt suck it up thru the lines to the carb, but I blew the lines out a few times with a blow gun.

So what else could it be, I have all the other outlets on the tank blocked off. The CVCC outlets are larger than the 1200 ones, so the hoses are a tad too big as well. So none of the return lines are hooked up very well, does that matter so much?

Does the tank work on pressure and I need to ensure everything is air tight?
