Okay, I recognize that car. It looks like a car that used to be painted purple. I don't know what was or is done to the car, but I can look at it and tell you. I'm in Greensboro if you're interested. Retodd1200@triad.rr.com

It was tuned on 93 octane but it was warm out then and the car runs like ass and detonated like a SOB when it's less than about 55 or 60 F outside if i get on it so in the winter/early spring 100 octane it is. the last 5 tanks i've ran 6 gallons of 93 octane and 1 gallon of toluene and she runs like a champ... cheaper than race gas.

whoops, i meant to post this the first time....

the air dam is a piece of sheet metal... cut from where the old header came out from old pics I've seen... it's got a Jackson Racing header now...

the bottom of the air dam is the home depot special....

i scrape on everything and it's daily driven so I didn't want anything nice that would get torn up.

That was a dynojet chasis dyno... not engine dyno

56.9 WHP
60.1 Ft/LBS
93 octane

I'm hoping its at the wheels if he's running "race gas". I like it, looks mean, airdam could have been done nicer, but I like the stance

I'm the owner....
I'm looking for whoever built it back in the day.

also, does anyone know the rod lenth on a stock 1200 motor by chance? or the r/s ratio? just curious.

i'll get some engine shots this weekend.... the car is sitting in my garage at the storage place right now...

So is that 56.9 HP at the wheels or at the flywheel?

Hey, the owner of the car is on Honda-tech.com, go there and do a search "1200 Civic".

OK well I have this '79 1200 that I bought in June but I have no idea who built the car to what it is now...

I'm wanting to rebuild the motor but I don't know the bore, what crank, what rods, or what pistons are in it. I don't know what head is on it or what cam or springs or retainers. I don't know what valves. I don't know much of anything about it other than I wanna rebuild the motor and get it running like a champ again!

Here she is....
anyone recognize it?
