Zippy brings up a good point-I don't know jack about tuner mags, either. Quite frankly, bookshelfs and garbage cans and neon lights make me want to puke. :( Seems to me there are enough interesting old Japanese imports out there (not just Hondas) to warrant some type of collectors magazine? Maybe in Europe or the UK?

Regards,
Shea :)

By Zippy (Zippy) (12.106.14.100) on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 - 06:01 am:

Justin and Twyla,
Congrats on the magazine spread. I don't know jack about tuner mags but SS had a big stack in front at the book store and they had them at 7-11 so it's a big one. Good job. The pictorals are great, they did a nice job. Daughter Alexis was relly impressed by the mag, she enjoyed that the had seen your cars this summer. Thanks for the great cars for us to enjoy.

Randy, not a problem. In fact, I'll do up one a little more in keeping with the real vehicles (no blown-turbo big block sticking out of the hood, etc). Trademarked names won't appear on the new one. In fact, give me a week or two and I'll try to come up with a couple of different ideas for you. I have to fit it in between coats of plaster, though (gotta keep on with wifey's home improvements)! :)

Speaking of the wifey, Corinne gave me a name for the promo supplier that their slo-pitch league uses:

Spirit Sportswear
10 Sunray St.
Suite 203
Whitby, Ont.

Phone (905) 666-2235
Fax (905) 666-4551

She tells me that they've always been pleased with the merchandise from this place. I'm sure there are other suppliers around, but "gotta start somewhere!" :)

I'll drop you a line or give you a ring once I've got some more paper for you to look at.

Regards,
Shea :)

Well I better start looking for t-shirts, what do you think. Could you freshen that picture up a bit for t-shirts? I don't think you can leave the goodyear on there though.

By Shea Laking (Sheaman71) (66.185.85.79) on Monday, February 23, 2004 - 02:27 pm:

Randy-It's funny, actually...I can't believe Colin kept that picture for all these years. Did you notice the date on it? We were in High School then! That picture was kind of done to razz him, I was always teasing him about the puny little cars he liked with their 4 bangers. Did you notice the "454" badge on the grille? :) Once again, I never dreamed then that like sixteen years later, I'd OWN one of these little critters! I love it though, adorable little car even though it's a pile of rust right now (wife's thought, not mine). If you'd like a better "cartoon" version of one, let me know and I can whip one off in a couple of days.

Regards,
Shea :)

HAHA I got to see it....justin you did'nt get to do a goober pose?
If you go about 4 months back you'll see an article titled "how to get into super street" it s a civic 4dr 89 driven by a joto friend of mine named chad...note to self if i ever make it...i'm going to get my chest waxed LOL

By Twyla (154.5.81.63) on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 - 03:50 pm:

it is a Rocketz (made in taiwan) i like it.

By FireballPhil (63.116.174.254) on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 - 02:02 pm:

How often does SuperStreet update their website? I have been looking almost every day to check out Justin & Twyla's car but the site has yet to be updated.
Thanks,
Phil

By Kurt (207.6.125.193) on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 - 12:43 pm:

Twyla, what kind of muffler is it anyway. It looks like my Dynamax but mine hangs down like the stock one :(

Justin I assume the strut bar is custom? I was looking for one for minebut I assume most are too long.

By Twyla (24.69.255.203) on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 - 08:20 am:

jms, yeah I wanted the trailer to match the car as much as possible and thought the matching muffler would be a great idea.

By jms (66.242.1.59) on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 - 08:15 am:

Bas A$$ just got a copy, Just in I didnt know you mounted a muffler on your trailer????

By 1300dx (68.98.37.29) on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 - 07:51 pm:

Great pics guys! I took a copy to work to brag that I saw them in person last summer in Estes Park. All my co-workers were stoked! They are instantly interested in MY Civic- HA! This is great for the old school cars, we'll take all the press we can get!!! There are so many nice Civics on this board we should bombard all the car mags with pictures and get as many as possible in the "readers rides" sections.

By Ted (63.224.195.169) on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 - 03:07 pm:

I just read the article while at Wal-Mart. The color in the photo's does not do justice to either Twyla's or Justin's Civics.

By Jonathan (66.252.173.251) on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 - 08:10 am:

Jared, Super Street is in the US as well. I picked up a copy the other day.

By jms (132.38.190.10) on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 - 08:01 am:

Is Superstreet a Can. Mag where can I get a copy?

By Anthony (202.147.80.62) on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 - 06:18 am:

Money in by Paypal. thanks so much.........

By Shea Laking (Sheaman71) (66.185.85.79) on Monday, February 16, 2004 - 10:21 pm:

P.S. My wife is involved with S.P.O. (slo-pitch Ontario) and I'm sure knows some folks that do silkscreening and embroidering for uniforms, etc.-there might be a source available locally if you so desire, Randy.

P.P.S. Back to the original posting, Justin and Twyla, your cars ROCK! right out loud! :D I'll be looking around for "Super Street" this week on payday! :)

Regards,
Shea :)

By Shea Laking (Sheaman71) (66.185.85.79) on Monday, February 16, 2004 - 10:16 pm:

Randy,

The logo is a simplified profile of a first gen with your web addy (1stgencivic.com) along the bottom. It's in very rough draft form right now, I want to scan my hand-sketched original and clean it up with a graphics program. I'm less than happy with the typesetting (fonts), too, but what's there will give you an idea, anyway. I'll bring it when I drop by on the weekend so you can take a look. :)

Regards,
Shea :)

By Kurt (207.6.125.193) on Monday, February 16, 2004 - 08:34 pm:

I got a copy on sunday. Great to see two first gens in print. Congratulations!

By Twyla (154.5.197.60) on Monday, February 16, 2004 - 03:55 pm:

Anthony, yes I can send you a copy it is a total of $17.80 canadian for the magasine and shipping ( I just sent a copy of the mag to family in New Zealand earlier today) my paypal address is twylajustin@hotmail.com

By shreck (24.112.121.191) on Monday, February 16, 2004 - 02:57 pm:

T-shirts that sounds like a great idea, count me in.
I really like the old H with www.1stgencivic.com idea too. A graphic would be good on there too. Shea what does the logo look like? My son and I have been trying to figure something out. I found he was messing with the new pictures from the magazine with Justins wagon. He is hooked on Civics now.
Is some one going to organize the T-Shirt project?

By Kurt (207.6.125.193) on Monday, February 16, 2004 - 01:03 pm:

I wonder if we could do a T-shirt around the new Civic Revolution theme? Something about representing the first generation...they could put us in a commercial! Congrats on the photo shoot..I am going into town now to see if we get the magazine up here.

Kurt

By Anthony Stewart (202.147.80.195) on Saturday, February 14, 2004 - 06:12 am:

Great cars! Great photos! You've built a couple of incredible cars. You guys sure are talented! No comment on the writing at Superstreet (they should have let Justin do that).
They say you have "Ice" in your car, I know where you can buy a decent heater core!J

Sweet article guys!! I'm sure we'll be seeing alot more civic nuts around here now! Twyla, do you actually drive with froot-rool-ups wrapped around your finger on roadtrips? hehe...those superstreet guys are funny.

Congrats!!

By chris ingham (Cingham) (207.69.139.156) on Friday, February 13, 2004 - 10:49 am:

i'm going to hound you to take every little picture you can when it gets to the axels.

By Justin (24.69.255.203) on Friday, February 13, 2004 - 08:44 am:

The ZC is essentially the JDM version of the D16a1/a3, it is much easier to expain to people at car shows what the motor is, by just saying ZC.. it will be cooler when I throw in the B16 :)
I never took him for a ride, just a fly by for him to see

By Twyla (24.69.255.203) on Thursday, February 12, 2004 - 10:00 pm:

I'm trying to scan the articles in but this @!$%&@*%$ scanner is not working properly!!!

By Parker (24.98.213.4) on Thursday, February 12, 2004 - 09:33 pm:

wow, i always thought you had a ZC justin, didnt know it was only a D16a1! did you give those guys a ride in it on the juice?? i saw where they said it was disgustingly fast lol

By Jonny (24.68.208.246) on Thursday, February 12, 2004 - 08:07 pm:

Read it last night Justin

A great article for sure

"No Doot Aboot It" <--- that was so funny I love being a Canadian!

By chris ingham (Cingham) (207.69.139.146) on Thursday, February 12, 2004 - 05:57 pm:

would someone break the law and scan them?

By Run0RoundSue (198.81.26.75) on Thursday, February 12, 2004 - 05:12 pm:

Twila
You should be proud-those cars are amazing!!! I've seen them pictured on this site before but I had no idea just how much work went into them. If you're ever down around Portland I'd love to see them in person. I love that trailor.

Justin
If you get some shirts made I'll buy one for sure.

By Twyla (154.5.197.60) on Thursday, February 12, 2004 - 01:47 pm:

I'm so amazed at how awesome the pictures turned out. even though you know it's a really cool backdrop you just never know how it's gonna end up...I'm so proud of my little car and the wagon

By Jacob (65.113.241.30) on Thursday, February 12, 2004 - 11:09 am:

One question Justin, doesn't your car run like a mid 13 sec 1/4 mile? If so, why didn't you tell them that... that would have dropped a ton of jaws.

By bruce (68.156.75.19) on Thursday, February 12, 2004 - 09:51 am:

Hey Justin, did shirts ever get made up for the RMNP get together? I know the idea was thrown around, but I do love the shirt I got.

By Shea Laking (Sheaman71) (66.185.85.79) on Thursday, February 12, 2004 - 08:02 am:

It's a bit premature (I'm not finished with it yet) but I've been working on a logo to give Randy just in case he wanted to make up site merchandise for 1stgencivic.com.:) It still needs to be scanned and cleaned up with a graphics program, as I drew it by hand. I'm also not quite happy yet with the text font. If you're interested Randy, let me know, we could get together for a cup of joe and check it out (not this coming week though, I'm on afternoons)

Regards,
Shea :)

By Landon White (Landon) (24.17.96.122) on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 - 10:54 pm:

Just saw the Super Street - Geez! Those are incredible civics! (And they're not that far away!)

I'll introduce myself. I'm Landon and I live in Seattle. I just bought a 1975 Civic 1200 two days ago and I love it! Still doing research and learning - any tips on part sources or in general appreciated.

I'd buy a T-shirt. Honestly, I like it simple - like just the old style "H" centered on front and maybe a small slogan or just a web address on the back (if anything.)

By Justin (24.69.255.203) on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 - 10:02 pm:

sure go for it!

on a off topic,
I was going to have some new shirts made up..
go with the old skool "H" on the front..
on the back I was thinking of something like..
the similar "H" and then below it..
Going back to your roots
www.1stgencivic.com

What do ya think?
any idea's?

By shreck (24.112.121.191) on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 - 07:55 pm:

Yep. Sure will if thats ok with you. I could also do the back ground stuff on the convertable from the old archives at the same time.

By Justin (24.69.255.203) on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 - 07:21 pm:

I just got it too!! Shreck, are you going to add it to your site?

By shreck (24.112.121.191) on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 - 04:53 pm:

Awsum Justin, I just picked one up at the post office. Hey kurt the valve cover is great.

I love the caption on page 102 showing the convertable and trailer.
Trailers: excelent for smuggling prescrition drug cartels across the Canadian border.
So that is how you pay for all those mods.
Heeee.
Way to go.

By bruce (67.200.12.184) on Monday, February 09, 2004 - 12:14 pm:

By chris ingham (Cingham) (207.69.139.145) on Sunday, February 08, 2004 - 12:55 pm:

justin is rocking the zc/88-89 integra motor in his wagon and i must say its pretty darn nice looking. Twyla has the coupe w/ the matching trailer which is the back end of a cvcc...there are some pictures on this board of it, i've saved every single one giving me a goal to reach for my wagon...i still want to know what your doing for your axels justin, because thats the only part i'm wondering about.

By Erik (24.211.237.35) on Sunday, February 08, 2004 - 08:33 am:

anyone have pics about the two cars? or what they are?

By chris ingham (Cingham) (207.69.139.146) on Sunday, February 08, 2004 - 04:33 am:

yea i went looking, but i guess i'll have to wait a week.
now 2 people i know have hit the pages, but does justin have a full article?

Other person was the 4dr civic w/ the ITR swap, only a few of us know he took that motor out of his type r for that shoot.....

By Junior (205.188.209.107) on Saturday, February 07, 2004 - 09:07 pm:

Yeah, I signed up w/ Superstreet when they first started printing their magazines. I have boxes of Superstreet magazines. I love the NSX brake setup.

By Justin (24.69.255.203) on Saturday, February 07, 2004 - 08:30 pm:

You must have a subscription :) I can't find the march issue yet :( I hope it looks good :) I got home tonight and theirs a message from a guy in South Carolina that saw the cars in SuperStreet, and had some questions on swaps!!

By chris ingham (Cingham) (207.69.139.136) on Saturday, February 07, 2004 - 08:13 pm:
