Lol, I used to be a sk8ter...let's see that'd be about 20 years ago now! Wow, I didn't think time would go that fast. That was the last time I went on my board since. My first one was a homemake board with old roller blades (stolen from my sis's!) screwed on board.

My next board was one of 1st gen - skinny board with thick polytheune wheels - like the kind you used to see at roller-skating rinks. My last board was fat thin board (with rough black pad on top) with smaller wheels and that was it since.

Lots of fun zooming downhill in the 'hoods around my home ;) !! Actually, I'm more of a BMX'er than on board (1st gen on BMX too!)...geez I'm so old now hah!

By the way, I like the Datsun mirror - veyr classy and should look right good on early civics! I should try find where I can get a pair of that ones.

Hi Hi , I think the Datsun Mirror is better than RMB-C, because look more classic, can some one tell me that where to find the Datsun Mirror ?
Thankx

By Chris Elder (211.30.173.156) on Sunday, March 14, 2004 - 01:39 am:

RMB-C = $100 incl. GST
RMB-C-EB1 = $115 incl. GST
ahah sorry about the late-ness.

awww...that sucks :( . Yup ,You are lucky...:) Any idea where I could get some headers that'll fit? If Possible an online site..? Thanx. :)

By Dave (64.228.15.22) on Friday, March 12, 2004 - 04:57 pm:

I contacted Hooker (now owned by Holley) and they said that they discontinued that header 3 years ago. I guess im lucky I have one.

By DåRl{ (66.50.181.110) on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 - 05:15 am:

Any website that I could find one?

By Dave (206.172.136.54) on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 - 04:43 am:

The headers where bought new back in 1980 from a local performance shop. Back then they came with out any coating so they were sent off to get nickel plated. They had the best performance rating of any header available in this area at the time. The price was pretty steep back then... $200 for the header and $200 for the plating.

Gotta admit a certain envy of those among you who can "skate." :) I don't even have enough balance and coordination to stand on a skateboard that's sitting still...LET ALONE one that's MOVING!!! :) :)

Regards,
Shea:)

By DåRl{ (66.50.182.60) on Monday, March 08, 2004 - 08:13 pm:

Thanx...Where You get them? And No prob.;)

By Dave (209.226.248.130) on Monday, March 08, 2004 - 07:18 pm:

The headers are Hookers and thanks. Lately I feel so old that when I had my first skateboard it was just a board that you stood on... they had not yet invented the wheel. :)

By Ed (66.185.85.79) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 09:13 pm:

I am not sure if it is a good thing, or a bad thing... but ..... I am older than Colin... and I knew what he meant by "sick".

I was a sk8er back in the day too... the days of dogtown , z-boys, peralta, etc..... probably when tony hawk was in diapers.

just to show my age.... my first skateboard, had clay wheels until I upgraded to polyurethane!

By Shea Laking (Sheaman71) (66.185.85.79) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 08:58 pm:

Hee-Hee-Hee:)...

Chris, When Colin and I were your age, "sick" meant taking the day off school to go and scrounge the junkyards...:)

Half a generation=A world apart in slang language.

Dave, that's a great looking little car you've got there. I'm hoping to meet it and you in person some day.:) My folks aren't all that far away from your place.

Colin, I took the Accordion out for a test run a couple hours ago...ran like a champ.:) Thanks again for the parts hookup, Brother K! I think after the labour savings I realized for Mrs. Laking this weekend, she really owes it to me to buy those bearings for the 1200.:D

BTW, to get back to topic, I was thinking a set of the bullet mirrors might look cool, even before you posted the question, Kurt!:)

Regards,
Shea:)

Hey Dave, Nice Car...What headers are those?Brand? Well...I have a '79 1200, I sort of need some pieces to finish the Body , but I live in Puerto Rico..so It'll be a li'l difficult to get some... :P

By Kurt (142.179.34.133) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 06:57 pm:

Well I picked up some new bullet mirrors (same as the bottom pic). I got them cheap so what the hell :)

They are beautiful but I'm not too sure about them on a first gen yet :( I havn't bolted them up either but they almost look too old fashioned looking for the car. Little too much of a cone! I really want some 'functionable' 78-79 look-a-likes but no luck finding any yet - unless they're plastic.

Us sk8ers/snowboarders use it to. "That was a SICK 360 flip backside boardslide, dude!!" hehe, I guess every genreration has some different kinda lingo.

By Chris Elder (203.166.96.240) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 02:27 pm:

"I really like your car"

By Parker (24.98.213.4) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 08:06 am:

lol i think that by sick, he meant sickeningly cool. its an expression for good looking ,ive really only heard people say it in the south

By CVCC x 2 (64.229.114.39) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 07:41 am:

Anybody who has seen this car up close would not say it looks sick, in fact, it is a damn fine looking 1200. It is probably one of the only remaining '75's left in Ontario that was sold here new.
All you fair climate guys have to remember how harsh the winters in Ontario were on these cars, on average a '75 would have been structurally unsound and taken off the road before 1982.

By Dave (206.172.136.109) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 05:15 am:

That was after my car sat in storage for 17 years and had been in a grass fire which burnt off the spoiler. At the time the car was put together big lights were in. They are now off the car. Sick?? A little harsh dont you think?

By Chris Elder (211.30.173.156) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 03:15 am:

your car looks sick man...
oh and Kurt? ill find out tomorrow, i cant see him atm :P

By Dave (206.172.136.7) on Saturday, March 06, 2004 - 06:26 am:

My opinion on the RS mirrors is that they are cool in their own weird way and I would love to have an orig. car with them mounted but I would not buy a set of them or anything like them and put them on a reg civc. They seem to take away from the "cute" lines. The set of mirrors that I have on my car are called Baby Turbos. They are getting old and weatherd but still look cool. This is a pic that Ed took of my car. That is before I took of the "burnt" spoiler and the junk fog lights.

Here's the Datsun Mirror that I found and it looks great on the Civic, specialy if you mount them on the hood and not on the doors. Makes it look like the Japanese model and these mirrors are interchangable from left to right sides.

Thanx for the pics every one. I'm kinda hanging. I would prefer to find something like the 78-79 mirrors but there is nothing close. I like the look of the new sport type mirrors but want chrome. I am going to overseas auto in Vancouver this weekend to see what they have.

Hey Chris what do they go for?

By Chris Elder (211.30.173.156) on Friday, March 05, 2004 - 03:07 am:

I'm going to get an aluminium one and colour code it to my car probably..

By Chris Elder (211.30.173.156) on Friday, March 05, 2004 - 03:05 am:

my dad makes em!
(Ken Elder & Sons Pty Ltd)
his mirrors are virtually the same except with a black rubber seal around the mirror instead of clear.
he makes different bases aswell... i donno all sorts of stuff.

I looked at that style for my wagon, It didn't look right, I ended up going with a more traditional flat chrome mirror, I bought mine from Octagon Motor Group (it's on Venables in Van.)they are lotus/fiat/mini type of guys..

By sonymmx200 (68.8.198.6) on Thursday, March 04, 2004 - 07:00 pm:

I think you'd be happier with a taller and slender arm for that mirror. Datsun used to make some mirrors for their Roadsters and they would look great on the Civics. It's a Japanese design and it would look great on the Civic. I'll post a photo once I do it to mine.

By Run0RoundSue (198.81.26.75) on Thursday, March 04, 2004 - 06:06 pm:

I like them. They look like they fit well on that car.

What does everyone think of this style of mirror on a first gen?

pic1

I want new mirrors and want to stick with chrome rather than plastic. I am tired of looking at the sky with the stock chrome ones.
