yeah.. that's the clutch arm damper.. it's in the haynes .. I don't have one on mine, but it might just be on cvcc trannies, since the haynes I have is for 1200 and cvcc..

Is this a common thing to have on our gearboxes?

damper?

This looks like it could be interesting if it works out...

I was on the lookout for a fairly tall ratio for my new enigne when its ready, and i take it there will be aftermarket clutches that will fit if a D15 clutch will go on?

I have both a 79 hondamatic and a 82 1500DX automatic, The 1200cc in the 79 needs a rebuild, and I would like to swap it over to 4 or 5 spd at the same time.

So will the accord trans also work on the 82?

I would need a flywheel and pressure plate for a 5spd right?

You may find the gear ratios to tall for the Civic motor.

After checking out the Daikin catalogue it seems you may be one very lucky person.

You should be able to use the following combination:

* flywheel and pressure plate from the 1200
* transmission from the '82-83 accord
* clutch disc from an '88 D15 engined civic

Check out the Daikin catalogue to see what I'm talking about.. It's really just a matter of matching up the spline diameters, spline counts and disc diameters.

The larger the spline diameter the larger the throwout bearing, so I'm not too sure how that'll affect the releasing of the clutch. My guess would be that it would give it a stiffer feel underfoot as the bearing will be contacting on the pressure plate prongs with less leverage.

Hasn't someone done this sort of tranny swap before?

I am not an expert but I think it may work. But you would definetly need the 1200 flywheel cause the accord flywheel will not fit on to the 1200 motor it is much bigger. My nickle. Shane

Will a 82-83 accord 5spd work in a frist or second gen civic?
