Quick questions: is the 5 speed bolt in universal? I have a 1979 with a blown 4-speed (manual) and am wondering what 5 speed to buy. Also, does it matter if it is a CVCC? Did they have different transmissions? I seem to find plenty of 1980 5-speeds, would those work?

Well it won't be an auto. The auto (semi auto actually) was a 2-speed.
5-speed is a simple bolt in.

how hard is it to do a 5-speed swap in a 79' civic? i'm looking at a civic tomorrow but it says 4spd (i'm guessing it's an auto?), so i was just wondering, thanks :D
