Thanks Richard, everyone I have asked didn't know what was used on the bolts. Now I can seek out the proper kit to do the plating.

it's called cad plating. coating with cadmium. it's super tough in outdoor environments and realllly cheap. it's also good because it's a very thin treatment and it won't affect your threads. just get everything you want plated in a big bag and take it to the plating place in your town. I did a bunch of bolts for an old Vespa for about $40 (cash... bring cash)..

Does anyone know the process for bolt plating?, that nice shiny yelloweee gold color that is on alot of the bolts and odd brackets etc. I'd like to do the plating myself and would need to know the process and the materials to do it. Any info would be appreciated.
