Fair enough. I suppose the motor will be designed to run at a certain number of revs, ad he will ahve picked the motor that suited his application the best.

possibly he did it just for the convenience of using the stock transmission mounts and cv's. plus the bearings in the motor will last longer at lower revs.

Isnt one of the main points of an electric car that you dont need a gearbox? Electric motors put out the same torque (more or less) independant of revs, so you shouldnt neeed to change gears! I suppose if it works then there must be a reason for it....
