For a 2nd Gen car the factory air conditioner bracket does the same job, and a lot easier to find, abet ten times as heavy, but hey, then you can add air.

Ahhhaa.Thats right.AT engineering.I found it last weekend at the wreckers. It was on a second gen that had the block mount broken off.

I talked to a few dealers that used to stock the A/T brand of this mount and they said when the car is hit from the side in an accident it was common to break the block in this area where the motor mount bolts on.

What causes the blocks to break like this? Is it just 25 years of brutality, or is there a bit of a casting weakness?

As far as mounting one bolt on the distributor 14MM side and two on the front side 14mm and 12mm bolts. The two lower center holes bolt up to your current mount on the inner fender.

I have been looking for one of these for 2 years now, I gave up and made one on the weekend.

When the block broke the vibration I guess caused the cam wheel to come loose and damaged the keyway in the cam shaft and the wheel as well as chewing up the timing belt pretty good.

My ends are the same but I made the bottom part out of square stock so the I could bolt into the head throught the timing cover holes as well. It is a very tight fit to the head.

They cant have sold that many, I wouldn't have thought breaking a block was all that common an occurence...

aaaah, that makes more sense. :)

AT Engineering made those foe eb's they were designed to repair broken blocks. I dont think it turns into a solid mount.

Wait, its not changing the side mounting position so you can fit in a B16 is it?

By Colza (Colza) (219.88.30.158) on Monday, April 19, 2004 - 11:35 pm:

Yeah, the side mount is the only place i can think of with holes that look like that. Would that improve engine stiffness or something? Stop it flopping round so much...

I'm going to guess that it's for the left hand side engine mount, and that the bits on the end bolt to the strut tower and front of the vehicle.. half turning it into a solid mount. It's all a guess though.
