Try calling me again. The whole car is for sale. It has bad rust so it is ideal for a conversion. the motor is running but isn't in the best condition. I paid $1450 for a motor and box delivered. The car ran on straight LPG using a gas research kit and the tank mounted where the back seat was. If you wan't you can also buy all the conversion bits you need from me. I have recently bought anothe gen1 civic with the conversion done and sold the gas kit.
In my opinion the car is a bargain because you get the computer, loom, brakes, wheels and all the left overs you can sell!!!

Mine cost $400 (USD) for a front cut ('83 T1). Then $700 for all shipping/crating fees, and $400 in storage fees because the Customs agents in Portland are retarded.
$1500 USD all said and done in my garage. Hooked up a battery and a fuel pump and runs great.
Oh, P.S. Mine was shipped from Christchurch, NZ to Portland, OR USA.

Yeah I'd be very interested to know the cost... Thankyou very much for the phone number mate.
What car did you fit the engine into, if it's a 70's civic I'd be VERY interested to have a look at it if you wouldn't mind.
Cheers

how much did the engine end up costing all together?
By Kam Johal (211.29.136.12) on Monday, May 03, 2004 - 06:11 am: |
I live in Brisbane and I got a City Turbo engine from Jap Performance in NSW (02 9601 6715). They sent the motor to Toll Express in Richlands and I picked it up(they offered to drop it off at my house but I found this easier). Phone them up and tell them to contact you when the next engine arrives!

Juston and Twyla have done the swap. From what I remember them saying the biggest hassle is the wiring.

thanks jonathon, does anyone have a pic or two of what he's talking about as a reference?

Yes, the City Turbo engine itself is a bolt in, but you'd need to do some creative plumbing of the intake, and some splicing to get it to start with your current ignition switch.

As an afterthought, what is really invovled in a swap like this?
From what I've read they're both basically very similat engines (size wise) so would it be just a straight pull out of the 77 engine and drop in the new turbo one?
By Uberdork (Uberdork) (211.29.136.12) on Wednesday, April 28, 2004 - 03:13 pm: |
haha, coincidentaly I was at both of those places yesterday!
The boondal place was useless, they didnt even have ANY hondas. But the place at tingalpa was a goldmine! I got a new engine mount and some other goodies really cheap.

If you want to try wreckers, one your better bets would be Boondall Wreckers - 3265 5199.
I also found this ad in the trading post.. can't hurt to try:
HONDA............WRECKING BRISBANE'S BIGGEST
USED AND NEW PARTS FOR MOST MODELS
TINGALPA 3390 4555
Most City Turbo engines I have heard of have either come from NSW/VIC or NZ. They don't seem to be too common up here.

Also, I'm located in Brisbane, Australia, where would be a good place to source one of these engines?
Cheers

Hey all,
Everywhere I read says that this is an extremely easy swap to do, just drops right in. Does anyone have any first hand experience or comments for me, im considering this engine for my 77 civic.
Cheers
