By Mick (Tur8ociv) (202.81.18.30) on Friday, June 04, 2004 - 04:59 pm:

Yep, thats the one, except mine wasn't attached to the bumper.

It was supposed to hook up underneath the bumper and then bolt in. A bit ruff but it works.

A pity you can't get one in the US Don, they are nice. A few people over seas have asked me about mine but the cost of shipping and mucking around with dollars allways ends up being too much hassle.

Hope you can track one done. Good luck. Mick.

my picture
Heres a picture of Marks copy of the Mugen MS1 Airdam
I wish someone here (USA) had a mold :(
Like I said Oscar Jackson wanted to get a copy to make a mold but gave up :( :(

By Don (199.2.139.150) on Friday, June 04, 2004 - 04:38 am:

Looks like I was looking at the wrong car...
Mick yes even though I'm not a big fan of the mods to the air dam I liked the rest of your car.

I cant get back in the site it says forbidden!
I used Andrews link?

By tur8ociv (202.9.62.157) on Friday, June 04, 2004 - 03:19 am:

Hey All,

I thought he was talking about my car.

My spoiler was a Mugen copy. Which one I'm not sure of. I think MS1. The same as the white rally car in one of those links. It was originally intended to meet with the big arse flairs that Mugen made for the Civics. I got it from Anthony when we were friends here in Canberra about 5 years ago. I liked the style of it but didn't like the way it stuck out so far from the front of the car and it also didn't meet the wheel arches because I didn't have any flares. It also sat very high above the ground.

At the same time another friend was building custom shorter bumpers for his Civic. They are cut shorter at the sides so that they meet up to the body with no lip.

With these 2 things in mind I decided to modify the Mugen copy and shorten the bumpers so that they all fit together nicely. I shortened the bumper then grafted the spoiler to the bottem of that.

Made up bits and pieces out of balsa and bog so that it fit nicely. Then took it to a fibreglasser and got him to make a mould and 1 pce spoiler. Made some mounts for indicators and new mounts for the whole spoiler. The end result came up really well AND it only weighs about 1.5 kg. I have the mould sitting in the garage and there has only ever been 1 spoiler made from it. The one on my car.

I added the bits to the bottom of it when I made the plug. The idea was to give the car a lower profile (it is for show after all) without being illigal and getting hassled out by the RTA. The min limit in the A.C.T. is 100mm. The spoiler measured 110mm. VERY CLOSE. I always thought the std looking one was a bit high so that is why I did it.

I'm sure not everyone likes the look of it but then again it would be a boring world if everyone liked the same things. I've always been pretty happy with the end result. It's not really a Mugen spoiler anymore, more of a hybrid that now fits the std 1st gen civic. This was the concept that I always had in mind.

Anthony's is a Kamie spoiler. If I remember correctly he got that one made because it did bolt straight on and was reletively cheap. Mine took me around 6 months of my spare time to build. The mould and spoiler was about another $600. I know that's a lot lot but I was pretty determined.

I hope this answers your questions on the spoiler.

Cheers Mick.

By lazy (165.228.57.19) on Thursday, June 03, 2004 - 07:09 pm:

hehe.. Michael's air dam is apparently a modified mugen. Anthony has a Kamei dam and mugen wing. (from memory :))

By Don (199.2.139.205) on Thursday, June 03, 2004 - 06:39 pm:

Oh maybe I was looking at the wrong car :) I cant get back in to check it says forbidden. That would make sense why it didn't look like a Mugen ...DuH!

By lazy (165.228.57.19) on Thursday, June 03, 2004 - 06:01 pm:

I think he's talking about Michael's car.

By Andrew Fatseas (203.63.44.193) on Thursday, June 03, 2004 - 05:39 pm:

Are you referring to the rear wing Don? :)

By Don (199.2.139.169) on Thursday, June 03, 2004 - 06:19 am:

I think Anthonys might have started as a Ms1 copy but somebody added a bunch of crud at the bottom.
Its a nice Civic though check out the brake booster!

By Don (199.2.139.169) on Thursday, June 03, 2004 - 06:14 am:

The MS2 body was a "Wide Body kit" similar to the Jackson or King body kit. The Ms2 air dam was similar to the ms1 in style but its ends were extended so it wont fit a civic without the rest of the kit. I have heard of an ms3 but I cant seem to find any documentation on it. Its supposed to be a wide body car too.

By Andrew Fatseas (203.63.44.193) on Wednesday, June 02, 2004 - 11:10 pm:

So Anthony, which Mugen one is yours a copy of? MS1 or 2?

By Don (199.2.139.149) on Wednesday, June 02, 2004 - 09:12 pm:

Anthony ...Not Andrew :)

By Don (199.2.139.149) on Wednesday, June 02, 2004 - 09:09 pm:

Andrew
Look at Marks and the MS1 picture BIG difference.
It looks like someone may have tried to make their own copy with out an original for a mold.
If that was a Mugen copy its NOT anymore.
I have more closeups of a true Mugen some place around here.

By lazy (165.228.57.19) on Wednesday, June 02, 2004 - 08:40 pm:

By Anthony (64.164.26.75) on Wednesday, June 02, 2004 - 08:29 pm:

I have a photo somewere on my old computer. Its a cool looking air dam, but Mugen left the sides real sharp. I dont like that maybe its more for aero than looks.

By Andrew Fatseas (203.63.44.193) on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 - 09:47 pm:

Apparently Mark has a copy of a "Mugen MS2" front dam. I don't have any price info or photos yet, but will let you know.

Anyone have a photo of these, or familiar with them?

By mat1200 (202.72.131.230) on Monday, May 10, 2004 - 05:03 am:

By Andrew Fatseas (203.63.44.193) on Sunday, May 09, 2004 - 10:42 pm:

Yes, if I get anywhere with it I'll post back in this thread.

By lazy (165.228.57.19) on Sunday, May 09, 2004 - 10:23 pm:

I'd be very interested to see what Mark has to offer. Could you please tell me if you have any luck finding something locally?

By Andrew Fatseas (203.63.44.193) on Sunday, May 09, 2004 - 09:55 pm:

I have his email address lying around here somewhere. I had forgotten that he had those molds, thanks for reminding me.

By Don (199.2.139.232) on Sunday, May 09, 2004 - 09:51 pm:

Do you know Mark Moddejongen I cant see your picture but he is in OZ and had some molds for some choice Mugen copies. Oscar Jacson tried to get a copy sent here to the USA but something went wrong.

By Andrew Fatseas (203.63.44.193) on Sunday, May 09, 2004 - 09:25 pm:

Does anyone in Oz have one of these lying around:

Anthony's air dam

I'm looking for something similar, but would prefer to locate something locally (ie in Australia) rather than having one shipped from the US.

Cheers,

Andrew
