There are 2 different 6x9's (retail $340.86 / $226.86 taxes in) my cost ($203.05 / $135.52 taxes in)
let me know :)

Cool!

I would want the 6x9s too !! :)

I am thinking for the other front speaker you could mount it through the side or bottom portion of the glove box so its hidden, of course it would nor fire in the direction but it would be discreet.

I really like the sound of the Infinity speakers, not cheap but I guess you get what you pay for. I thought about custom kick panels but wanted to keep my interior stock looking ... :)

plus it's only one side of the car.. the other side is occupied by your fuse panel. my car now has two 4" speakers in door (at the bottom of the door and right near the hinge side doesn't interfere with the windows at all, two 5" (though you could probably get a 6x9 in there easily) in the panel right below the push out windows. and then a 10" sub with it's own amp in the rear hatch area. I used a JVC CD deck 40x4.. it wasn't really cheap because I went for good components in the end; but man, the sound is great.

There are lots of aftermarket 4x6's.. it just a matter of finding one that suits you listening :) I would go with a aftermarket kickpanel and either a 5 1/4" or 6 1/2" spkr. the sound quality is alot better :)

Do they make aftermarket 4x6 speakers....will it fit?

I've asked the same question before, I was told it was on the passenger side down under (same as the LHD driver's side). I would've been cool to get stereo in the front that way though. Maybe cut out the speaker from one panel and somehow mold it into the right hand side one?

By Justin (24.87.106.22) on Friday, April 15, 2005 - 09:22 pm:

it's basically a 4x6" spkr..

Anyone know the size of the stock speaker in the kick panel?

Those in OZ, which side is yours on, drivers or passengers? Are passenger side does not have the space for a speaker.

I would suggest getting a 10" sub and putting that in the back of the rear seat. that way you still keep your spare tire and still get some thumping sound. I am wary of audio places installing it as i have heard some of them are cowboys. a nice sub woffer is the pioneer 10" which only cost me about $120 AUD.

Richard,

There are many solutions to your problem. I would suggest a mid - tweet combo for the front, and then find the largest available mid for the back panels. Power everything with an amplifer using the pre-outs on the back of the stereo. The key is not to chince out on the speakers. Speakers make it. A good quality mid with an amp behind it will have good bass. If you want the sub, you can add it later. An enclosure can be made for the spare tire tub, but you lose the spare... When I install a stereo, I rivot every thing, speakers, amps, crossovers, etc, and then I use clamps on all the wire. If thieves decide to steal, It makes them work for the piece. It works too! I once had someone try to steal my 6x9's, but since they were rivoted, they gave up, and left a screwdriver. Thieves will hear a sub, and then come for it later. It would be a good idea to go check out a high-end stereo shop, talk to someone who knows what they are talking about and then use his info to build your system.

I need some advice.. I've got a 77 hatchback 1200 and it's rolling well, so now i'm fixing up the interior. I have some 5" speakers mounted in the panels right behind the front seats. There is an RCA out on the back of the stereo. The problem is that the current speakers sound good for treble above maybe 500 Hz, but just put out nothing in the low end and there isn't room for much more than a 6x8 speaker without ditching the panel.. I kind of want to put a subwoofer in the car, not too huge or anything, just something to make the bass more pronounced. any reccomendations on a subwoofer choice for about $200. should I let a shop install it? where's a good place to mount it? how can I stop it from being stolen (ie hide it). what kind of rattling stuff am I going to have to chase down? Anyone have some tips for this kind of stuff.. Am I better just to attempt to stiffen the speaker housing on the speakers crrently installed? I'm good at the elctrical part, but piss poor at the accoustic part :)
