I'm guessing it smokes until it gets warm? It sounds like valve seals or the aux. combustion chamber o-rings. This would cause the car to pull oil in until the seals swelled up a bit to stop it. Best bet to fix it right would be to replace the seals and o-rings. Next best thing would be to drive it for a few months, see if there's any improvement. I've had this happen on two cars I've owned so far. Both had sat for 2-5 years before I got them, and they smoked like crazy for a while. Once they got some oil soaked into them, they swelled up some, and now the cars don't smoke at all.
If it smokes all the time, you might be looking at bad rings. A compression/leakdown test will help you determine exactly what the culprit is.

hello guys I have a 1976 cvcc .. when i start it in the mornings it smokes for like 5min untilit starts to warm up.... i wanted to know if this problem is common or is there some type of damage some where ,,, i just got the car on the raod it had been sitting for 8 months ..let me know what i could do thanks ,,
p.s looking for a 1200 motot to replace cvcc so i can build and race let me know what you have ,,,thanks again ...
