1979 California 5-speed carb number is ECA21C.
1979 California Wagon 5-speed is ECA21E.
1979 California Hondamatic is ECA21B.
1979 California Wagon Hondamatic is ECA21F.

These differences may not really be in the carb itself but in the items associated with it or with different idle speed settings between the Hondamatic and 5-speed.

In the exploded view of the differences in the carbs in relation to the emissions control the California models add a throttle control valve, a throttle opener solenoid valve, an ignition solenoid valve B, and a delay valve. High altitude cars also added an Air Jet Controller.

Since the 5-speeds and Hondamatics had different idle speeds set at the factory this would force all the carb part numbers to be different. The different part numbers for the 79 may just be because each number is a kit number with the additional parts and instructions on idle speed settings.

The 1977 carb body looks the same as the 1979 carb body but all the aforementioned parts above seem to look different and there appear to be even more parts for CA and High Altitude vehicles than what was added for the 79.

The carburetor I have came from a California 5-speed car. How different do you think the carburetor is for a '79 California Hondamatic?

I've got the Honda 1977 CVCC and 1979 CVCC Service manuals. According to Carburator Identification Table in both books they are slightly different

Carburator part numbers vary depending on transmission type and emissions code. For example, the 1977 California emissions carb for a manual transmission is CA12A. The 1979 carb part number for the same trans and emissions is ECA21C.

It's quite possible they are still interchangable. If both engine blocks are ED3 then I imagine the bolt hole patterns are the same.
