A buddy and I did it in a parking lot after it had blown on the way to Toronto. We came back to the car with every thing we needed the next day and it went like clock work and took less than 3 hours. Last summer I did it and had probs with having to helicoil the block. A few other things were trouble to deal with too. That episode took a good part of 10 hours. I must say the first time the car was a mint rust free car and the second was not the case. You never know what you have till you get your self into it. I would be prepared to give it a day if I were you.

if you use the search engine there are tons of tips, because people were helping me when my car
needed it done. and jesus christ do it right, or your 750 bill at the mechanic will seem like a joke when your car is sitting out back STILL OVERHEATING!!!!!!!

i did the head gasket on my 83 cvcc (california model with all the vacceume hoses and crap) in a saturday afternoon but i had done it once before on the same car so i was familiar with the procedure. it took me about 6 hours i think with a lunch break and stuff. the first time i did it i took it slow over the course of a week.

Definetely need to replace my head gasket. Car runs but has that unwanted smoke screen. My first CVCC head work, should I plan on a weekend project, or will it go easier? Anything else i should plan on replacing at the same time?
thanks guys
