Just accquired a 79 civic with a 1.5 that stripped the oil pump shaft engine supposedly ran great any way I want to put another engine in it but not stock what is going to give me a wild performanc up grade or at least a starting point for better performance I have access to an 81 accord 1.8 is that a pretty good start?

Some more info on engine size/power here:

It might wind up being easier for you to get the whole engine, instead of just doing the upper end swap. I'd look for an EK1 out of an 82/83 Prelude.

Yeah. I can take a look, and see if any of them have some consoles in good condition.
Thanks for the info.
What engine is in the early Preludes?
I might try and do an upperend swap then.

'75's were a one year only head design. They were a 4-port exhaust, instead of the 76-79 Civic's 2-port exhaust. You might be able to take the whole head/intake/exhaust from a later Civic and swap it on though. I've never seen a '75 up close, so I can't guarantee that. You may want to look into getting the whole engine from an early Prelude if you can. You'll have more power from them, and they're a bolt-in upgrade.
Would you be able to get one of those roll-top floor consoles or any overhead consoles at the junkyards by you?

What head will just bolt on my 75 CVCC?
I can choose from an 82 Prelude, 81 Accord, a few others.
I have the ED1. Will I need the intake and exhaust manifolds along with it? AND, how easy is it to rebuild a head?
thanks ahead
Joel
Also, if anyone needs parts for any early Hondas, let me know I have alot of choices at the junkyard.
