cheers mate.

I've seen a half dozen or so different ones in my limited travels around Brisbane. I only kept the rails off one set of seats from the two hatches. The 4 doors have a different rear seat back to the hatchbacks (I believe). I still haven't really checked out what condition the seats in the 4-door are in, but my initial impression was that they're good. Problem is they're tan and not black.

I don't suppose you've kept any of the seats. I'm restoring a 4 door and I'm in desperate need of both front and back seats in the colour black.
you say you just bought a 4 door. are civics that easy to come by around brissie? I'm keeping my eyes peeled next time I'm there...

One passenger and both rear seats were in good condition. One driver seat was about 75%. The remaining were shot. I live 1hr north of Brisbane. I have just bought a rust-free four door but I don't know what sort of condition the seats are in - so I can check that out for you if you want.

I'll reply in chronological order...
Jonathan: The purple civic was full of rust. I think all that was holding it together was the chalky paint. The silver one was 95% rust free. And yes I stripped them of pretty much all useable parts. I wanted to get the whole window winder assembly, but have been very of late and since I've never done it before it would have been a complete pain in the arse to do anyway. The purple civic is sitting kinda low because I took the openable front struts off it
Felipe: I have not actually done the swap myself, I'm just telling u what I have observed and theorised. Mounting the bonnet could be as simple as drilling four new holes in your your radiator support (correct name/part?). The grilles also have different mounting arrangements, but that shouldn't pose a problem to anyone with the basic metal fab/welding skills and tools (neither of which I have :P).
Andrew: Pretty much. From memory I think one of the wheels may have been a bit ordinary.
Dave: I live in Australia.
Kyle: Correct. The side mirrors, however, were crap. The purple civic had a very cheap and very nasty plastic aftermarket mirror, and the silver civic had an original mirror that was literally 25% missing due to rust. Since our cars are right-hand drive, right side mirrors aren't too rare over here :P I'm hoping to eventually swap my oe mirror for a pair off an escort/falcon, so if you want one mine is in perfect condition.

ahummm anybody can answer my question please?

Well they look right hand drive, so I'm guessing its not seattle. It also looks like they both left with the hard to find right side mirrors

Around here those would be considered an incredible find in that condition. Where are you? Seatle? I see so many civics on the net in that area.

lazy, did you throw out a perfectly good set of 120 pcd mags?
The bonnet swap has been done. A fella called Mike here in Oz did it on his City turbo powered car.

oh i forgot to mention i have the 78 grille, not the honeycomb style, so i still will have to modify something?

Oh man, those two Civic looked totally rust free too! They're impossible to find in that condition by me! I hope they were stripped of all usable parts first?

and on a completely unrelated note:
It's mating season!
(that or a long overdue front yard cleanup :P)

here's a pic of the '78 style hinge.
I have a spare '77 style bonnet and plan to cut off its hinges and weld them onto the '78

No, it is not a bolt on swap. On my '78 hood the fixing bolts are ~740mm apart from each other, whereas on my '77 hood they're ~712mm apart. The '78-79 hoods also use a different hinging mechanism which will probably interfere with your '77 grille (although I haven't tried). I think there has been a previous post about this.
