i am in canada and have have the entire EL engine and just the EK short block. so what you are saying (if i follow correctly) is that i can use the EL pistons in the EK block if i use the canadian non-cvcc head?

Near aa I can tell, the Canadian combustion chamber is deeper than the USA CVCC one. This accounts for a slight compression drop when you use a Canadian head with a USA short block. The USA spec pistons are notched slightly so It would be wise to check for interference before you bolt together the motor with the Canadian flat tops installed. If you are in Canada, have you had any luck sourceing Canadian valves? They are not the same as USA CVCC ones.

i have both an EL and EK block and the only difference i can see between the two of them is the longer stroke and the dished pistons on the EK. i am wondering if i can put the flat top EL pistons into the EK block to raise compression, or is there a reason that this would be a really bad idea?
